Maly still has the Narrative

We all got a good night’s sleep that night after the interrogations. Well, some of us did. We later learned that not all of us had a good night’s sleep. Some of us got less than a full night of sleep.

All of our phones rang a bit after ten that morning. We, my Sisters and I, had been up long enough to take care of our morning preparations and to have breakfast. We knew what it meant when everyone’s phone rang at the same time -- there was a mandatory meeting at the Queen’s house. We all made sure that we were dressed appropriately before leaving.

On appearing in the Queen’s front yard, we quickly realized what the meeting was about. We could see all of the limousines, vans, and satellite trucks that were parked on the road in front of our houses. The sheriff had probably been alerted by those from the government of when they would be arriving, and he had already set up a detour around our properties to keep traffic flowing.

It appeared that those from the FBI and the Justice Department had arrived and brought the media with them. When my sisters and I arrived, it appeared that they, the government, had been waiting for some time, and they were less than happy about that.

Outside of the property wards, we could see Agent Mitchell and several other agents wearing vests marked FBI. We didn’t see any vests for the ATF or the two agents from there that we knew. Additionally, there were a number of civilians in suits with the agents. The one who appeared to be in charge of things was a rather heavy-set woman who appeared to be the one most upset by waiting. She turned to a familiar figure and started berating him and several others with him.

“Why haven’t you gotten us past these ... these - what did you call them?” she demanded angrily.

“They are called wards, and as I told you previously, none of our people have been able to pass through them or cancel them for more than forty-five years now, though in that time every young hotshot from our organization has come out here and tried,” David De Tocqueville told her. “Why should now be any different just because you want to move past them?” he added in a tired voice.

“And maybe you are in cahoots with her,” the nearest FBI agent said in an accusing voice. David stared at him for a few seconds and laughed before casting a spell and turning the agent into an oversize green frog in a suit squatting like a frog on the roadway. On seeing this, the four of us, as Deirdre had joined us, began to clap and giggle like teen girls. He heard us and gave us a short bow. David also had a huge smile on his face.

“I’ve wanted to do that to a number of those who have annoyed me for a long time,” he said to those staring at him before turning serious again.

“If you think that I’m touchy, wait until you have to deal with Madailein Kavanagh in her Fire Breathing Dragon form at fifteen to twenty feet tall (4.5 to 6 meters). Then you’ll see what touchy really is,” he assured them before gathering the Wizards he had brought with him, and they all disappeared leaving the woman in-charge spluttering, and the FBI agent sitting on the ground in his human form again but looking stupid. We were all, at least, chuckling if not laughing. The media had, of course, recorded all of this, as they had nothing better to do, and many of them appeared to be as amused by it as we had been. I did wonder if any of it would ever appear on the news, or if the government would demand that they not show it.

Naturally, this was the instant that both Queens chose to appear on the inside of the perimeter wards. They were both dressed in royal blue skirt suits with their medallions of office hanging on gold chains down on their breasts. Chu Hua was to the right of both of them in a similar gray skirt suit. All of the merriment stopped at their appearance.

“Why have you brought this circus here and disturbed OUR peace and quiet?” the Queen of the West demanded in an annoyed voice.

“I am Special Counsel Sandra Hollinsworth of the Justice Department and...” that was as far as she got before the Queen stopped her with a short spell and turned to Chu.

“Official Chu have WE received a request for an audience from the Justice Department?” the Queen asked.

“No, Majesty. We have not,” Chu answered. The Queen turned back to the lawyer.

“Have the head of the Justice Department send a request to OUR Dual Royal Court for an audience with both Queens. Official Chu Hua will arrange a visit for a time when WE are not busy,” the Queen told her after canceling the spell. The woman looked shocked on hearing this.

“I have a warrant from the Eleventh Circuit Court demanding that you turn over to the FBI and the Justice Department those terrorists that your people took prisoner during the attack on Stone Mountain Park,” the lawyer demanded in a harsh, upset voice. Both Queens only smiled.

“WE, that is the Combined Royal Court of the Dragon Queens of the East and the West, do not recognize the authority of the Eleventh Circuit Court to issue such a warrant, or for any other federal circuit court to do so for that matter,” the Queen informed her. “This is Chu Hua an official of OUR Court. Have the request for an audience sent to her at our Dragon Security headquarters,” she told the lawyer indicating Chu before turning away from the lawyer, and both Queens vanished leaving the Special Counsel standing there in shock. Chu Hua stepped forward then.

“Have the Head of the Department of Justice send the request for an audience with the Queens to me at Dragon Security headquarters. There is no mail delivery at the Nest. When the audience is approved, you will be notified. Be sure to indicate a contact’s number and their name in the request. Also include in the request the name of the principal seeking the audience, and the names of those accompanying the principal,” she told the lawyer before also vanishing. The Special Counsel stood there for a number of seconds in a daze before turning angry.

“Somebody find a way in there,” she demanded angrily of those around her pointing at our property on the other side of the wards.

“We have two of the FBI’s strongest Magic users here. They should be able to get us through,” Agent Mitchell told her bringing the two Magic users up to her. They were a man and a woman with modest Talents. Both had watched what had already happened there. After checking the perimeter wards themselves, both turned to the Special Counsel.

“Those wards are way, way above our paygrades. Those Ley Line users couldn’t affect them, and we are nowhere near as strong as they are. Unless you can find a Dragon to work for the Bureau, you’re not going to get past those wards,” the male Magic user told her.

“More useless federal employees. You should be fired,” the Special Counsel told them in a condescending voice.

“Right now, that wouldn’t be a problem. We are interested in the Atlanta area and all of the Magic in use here. It would be nice to live someplace where we aren’t looked at as freaks. We could easily get a job with local law enforcement here,” the female agent told her, as both turned and left the Special Counsel standing there in shock again.

The four of us had seen and heard all of this, but the media seemed to have lost interest in what wasn’t going on here when the Queens vanished. However, there were other things to be done yet today, and we were called away by our Aunts, Doreen and Dallas, to attend to it. We were involved in the work, as we had been the ones who had helped remove the threat of the terrorists at the park.

On transferring to the Dragon Security headquarters building, Doreen took the four of us to her ‘Inner Sanctum’ where she worked on all of the electronic equipment that the company used. She had a lot of extras of all types of equipment there. Some of it had already been set up for our use.

“What we want to do,” Dallas started, “is for the four of you to record just what you did to stop the terrorists. Start the story together and explain why you were there and what you were doing. We’ll then split you into your groups and record each group separately. Later we’ll include these stories in the project we are working on. You will get to help with that also,” she finished.

The project was more extensive than we at first realized, and it required twelve days of work to complete it. Even then, we weren’t sure what they intended to do with all that we had helped them to create, and they didn’t tell us, just thanking us for our assistance.

While the six of us had been busy, other things had continued to happen. The request for an audience from the Adjutant General of the Department of Justice had been received. Chu had scheduled the meeting to occur the day following the completion of the work we were doing.

That day the Queens were already in residence when the quartet from the Justice Department arrived at the foot of Stone Mountain below the entrance of the Nest. It consisted of Special Counsel Sandra Hollinsworth, Agent Mitchell of the FBI, another lawyer, and a second FBI agent. They were met by Chu Hua, Dallas, and Doreen. We four were already inside the Nest but near the entrance.

The visitors were transported up to the entrance and moved through the Nesting wards, but they were not allowed to see more than just the hallway into the Nest before being transported down to the Queens’ Audience Chamber. The chamber being large enough to hold a thousand full size Dragons, or as long and wide as four football fields along with their sideline and end zone areas, startled the visitors.

“Where ... where are we?” Agent Mitchell finally managed to ask in not more than a whisper after looking around at the huge area.

“This,” Chu told him with a wave of her hand at the chamber. “Is the Queens’ Audience Chamber. Both Queens are presently in residence and awaiting you at the other end of the chamber,” she finished.

“But ... but why would they have a chamber this large?” the befuddled agent asked.

“It is large enough for a gathering of a thousand Dragons at their full size of forty feet tall (12 meters). There were many such meetings in the past,” Chu assured him. “The Queens will see you now,” she added before we all transformed into our Dragon forms at the twenty-five-foot-tall level (7.6 meters) and escorted the visitors down the hall to where both Queens sat on the two thrones above the end of the chamber. They were also at our size.

We all stopped at the seating area some thirty feet (9 meters) from the base of the dais that the thrones sat on. The dais was twenty feet (6 meters) high itself. Chu Hua stepped forward then to announce the arrival of the visitors.

“Your Majesties, I bring before you those from the Justice Department who have requested an audience,” she announced in a loud Dragon voice that only slightly echoed in the large chamber.

“Welcome Special Counsel Hollinsworth and assistants. Please have a seat,” the Queen of the West told a shocked Special Counsel.

“Yes, I remember you. We all have very good memories. For your information, I am the Queen of the West. To my right is the Queen of the East. What is it that you wish to discuss or request?” she finished. The Special Counsel stood and held up a sheath of papers.

“I have here,” she started in a normal voice, but it was like a whisper in this huge chamber. Chu reached down and handed her a small portable microphone.
