The Skier

t was pure coincidence, how could it not be? In their final year at school, the school skiing trip were organising a skiing trip to the same place as he had been with his mum and dad and Helen. Helen was jealous, one small bit of grit in the ointment of eternal bliss was that Micky had not the slightest interest in skiing. He was a footie and beer kind of guy, not a rugby and wine one. She’d work on him. The real coincidence was Angelique’s school going at the same time. They always went to the same place, so that wasn’t the variable, it was that Peter’s school picked that week and that resort. Naturally he booked, so did Tracey.

Tracey was not from a well off, middle class family, she had never been skiing. But this was a rite of passage. Also, when she heard that they were going at the same time as the French girl Peter used to date, she realised she had to go. Peter took her to a Snowdome and got her some basic training and then gave her lots of help. The theory was that there was no intimate fraternisation during the trip. Two years ago Murial Blackstop had given birth nine months after the trip, so that showed how well that rule was observed. It wasn’t that Tracey didn’t trust him, but she’d met Angelique and knew she was pretty and sexy and that Peter knew every inch of her body. Anyway, she fancied learning to ski. Peter still stayed on the ‘approved’ track by firstly telling Tracey that Angelique would be there (no secrets) and then being delighted and showing it when Tracey said she was signing up to come.
