They did not decide quickly.
That mattered.
Ty stood near the edge of the commons, arms crossed, staring at the faint light that marked the sanctuary’s center. Ann stood beside him—not touching, but close enough that their presence steadied each other.
“This is the moment,” Maribel said quietly, “where ideals meet consequence.”
Jonah nodded. “Whatever we choose becomes precedent.”
The presence spoke at last.
“This scenario is unscripted.” “No doctrine dictates outcome.”
Ann turned toward the quiet air. “So this one is on us.”
“Yes.”
They chose the narrowest path.
Not evacuation.
Not exposure.
Intercession.
They used the sanctuary not as a doorway—but as a support.
Medical supplies appeared at the shelter within hours—through legal channels, purchased quietly, delivered without fanfare. Temporary housing was arranged through partnerships that already existed, not through thresholds. Food arrived from regional banks that owed Maribel favors from another life.
No miracles.
Just coordination done with uncommon speed.
The families slept indoors that night.
And no one saw anything impossible.
The watchers noticed anyway.
Two days later, a black SUV idled at the edge of the road near the seven acres, far enough not to trespass. Drones stayed higher. The questions at the clerk’s office stopped.
