Chapter 33: Caught Buying Couple Jewelry

Lucas was the villain. That was his role.

He was the kind of person who never took David seriously. Every time he saw him, he wanted to provoke him, insult him, beat him down, and trample him underfoot.

Running away now would mean breaking character.

So he braced himself and shouted, “What, you think you’re tough now? One last warning? Fine, go ahead and hit me! Come on, right here!”

He didn’t retreat. Instead, he pointed to his own forehead and kept taunting.

David’s face turned grim. His fists clenched with a crack. “You brought this on yourself.”

He had wanted to hit Lucas for a long time. In truth, he had even fantasized about killing him.

Now, he finally had the perfect excuse.

He raised his fist and threw a punch without hesitation.

A violent surge of killing intent followed the punch, powerful enough that even a trained fighter would have trouble dodging. If it landed, it wouldn’t just cause injury. It would put someone in bed for weeks.

Lucas’s pupils shrank. He felt the force of the punch closing in.

He immediately used Legendary Light-Footwork Technique. His figure flickered unpredictably, messy yet fast. In the blink of an eye, he moved behind David.

Lucas had dodged it. But Rachel and her mother were not so lucky.

With a loud crash, one was struck directly, the other caught by the shockwave. Both were sent flying and crashed onto the second floor.

A spray of blood burst from their mouths. Rachel’s mother passed out immediately. Rachel was still conscious but barely clinging to life, motionless on the ground.

Lucas stared at her in shock. He hadn’t expected David to use half of his strength.

David knew that using only thirty percent was enough to disable a normal person. At fifty percent, a single blow could kill if it wasn’t controlled.

That punch had clearly been thrown with deadly intent.

David froze after realizing he had struck the wrong targets. He turned and saw Lucas behind him. His shock grew.

He hadn’t even seen Lucas move.

But missing once wasn’t a problem. He could try again.

He turned around and raised his fist once more.

“Stop!”

A cold voice rang out from above. Sasha appeared on the second floor just in time.

She glared at David. When she noticed the killing intent in his eyes, her brows drew together. She quickly stepped in front of Lucas, placing herself between the two men.

“Mr. Fox, what do you think you’re doing?”

David looked at her with barely restrained anger.

This moment was supposed to be his. It was her failure to recognize him that had cost him his chance. That had opened the door for Rachel and her mother to humiliate him.

It was all her fault.

“I’m just teaching a nobody a lesson. What, Miss Porter wants to protect him?”

Sasha narrowed her eyes. Her tone turned icy. “Mr. Fox, don’t forget yourself. This is the Porter family’s stone workshop, not the Fox family’s territory. Mr. Grey is our honored guest and was personally invited here. The Porter family does not stand by and watch our guests be assaulted.”

She had always treated guests with politeness and a smile. This was the first time she spoke so coldly. It showed just how angry she was.

David was already on edge. He wasn’t willing to back down even in front of her.

“You protect your guest. I go after my enemy. We’re not interfering with each other. In the end, we’ll see whether you can shield him or whether I can settle this score.”

He let out a snort, his aura surging again. The killing intent radiating from him made it clear he had no intention of leaving things peacefully.

Sasha frowned and was about to speak when a cheerful laugh rang out from the upper floor.

“Young man from the Fox family, what has you so angry?”

Lucas looked up and was stunned. The speaker was none other than Sasha’s father, the head of the Porter family, Thomas Porter.

He was shocked.

[In the original story, the old man was not supposed to appear until David was seriously injured and came to the Porter family seeking help.]

[The ancient divine jade was needed to heal his internal injuries. Sasha had gone through countless hardships to obtain it. But her family didn’t know how to use it, so they were at a loss.]

[It wasn’t until David arrived and explained that the jade needed to be soaked in snowmelt from the Northern Region that it worked. After that, the old man’s injuries were healed.]

[To repay this favor, the Porter family helped David defeat his enemies and arranged for Sasha to join his harem.]

That part of the plot hadn’t even started yet. Why was the old man already here?

Lucas was stunned. He could already feel this storyline veering off in another unexpected direction.

Sasha heard his thoughts and was equally shocked.

So that divine jade needed to be soaked in Northern snowmelt? That was perfect.

She had been losing sleep over that jade, even thinking it was fake.

Now she realized she just hadn’t used it correctly.

She quickly looked up and addressed her father. “Dad, Mr. Fox suddenly attacked two of our guests. Now he wants to hurt our top guest, Young Master Grey. I tried to stop him, but he refused to listen. He even tried to raise his hand against me.”

“I didn’t!” David stared at her in disbelief. He never imagined she would lie about him to defend Lucas.

Thomas, a man of great influence in Su City, was not someone anyone could afford to offend lightly.

David had no choice but to step forward and speak seriously. “No matter the situation, I would never harm Miss Porter.”

Thomas stroked his beard and responded calmly. “Not harming my daughter is a given. But since you’ve come as a guest, you should follow our rules. You’ve now injured others at my event. What explanation should I give for that?”

David frowned and said, “It was my mistake. I’ll take full responsibility.”

As he finished, he clapped his hands.

Two men suddenly appeared in front of him.

David gave a cold command. “Take Rachel and her mother. See to their injuries.”

“Yes, sir.”

His men quickly moved in. One lifted Rachel, the other her mother, and they carried them away without hesitation.

Lucas watched, shaking his head.

Those two were seriously injured. They shouldn’t have been moved like that at all. If anything, it would only make their condition worse.

Yet David’s subordinates didn’t show any concern. They just hoisted them up and left roughly.

Who would believe they were going to treat them?

If they buried them quietly afterward, it would already be a miracle.

Thomas clearly didn’t care about the lives of Rachel and her mother. He only wanted to avoid any fallout. Seeing David’s men handle them so carelessly, he said nothing and pretended not to notice.
