Chapter 27: You Cannot Leave Me

If it weren’t for his current persona of simping over Rose, Lucas would have already asked Medusa to take her clothes off.

“Wash feet?”

Medusa looked at him.

“In broad daylight?”

“I like washing my feet during the day. Why do you care? I told you to get water, so get it. Why all the talking? If you don’t want to do it, then get out.”

Medusa stared at him for a moment, then stood up. “Fine. I’ll go.”

She was really going?

“Trim my nails.”

“Shave my leg hair.”

“Massage my shoulders.”

“Give me your legs. I want to use them as a pillow.”

“Sing for me. I want to hear a song.”

...

All afternoon, Lucas racked his brain to torment her in every way possible.

But Medusa followed along with everything.

In the end, nothing happened to her. It was Lucas who ended up exhausted.

Coming up with ideas and nitpicking everything wasn’t so easy after all.

By around seven in the evening, Lucas’s eyes were glazed over. Tired, he waved his hand. “Forget it. That’s enough for today. Have the housekeeper prepare dinner.”

Right as he finished speaking, he got a call from Zavier.

“Lucas, what are you doing? Come out. I saw David at the waterfront restaurant. Hurry over and let’s think of a way to deal with him.”

Talk about picking the worst time.

So what if he saw him? Why call?

Their storylines didn’t even overlap.

Still, he couldn’t say that. So he gave a casual excuse. “I’m busy. No time.”

“What could be more important than dealing with David? That guy tried to beat you up outside the auction last time. I’m trying to help you get even. Come on, I promise it’ll be satisfying.”

Satisfying? Picking a fight with the male lead?

This guy really didn’t know how close he was to death.

“I really can’t. Ask someone else. Oh, someone’s calling me. Gotta go.”

He wasn’t lying. Someone really was calling.

It was Yelena.

“Lucas, what are you doing? I need a favor. If you’re free, I’ll pick you up and we can talk somewhere.”

She needed help and wasn’t looking for the male lead, but him?

Lucas had no interest whatsoever. But since it was the female lead, and she had been close to collapsing her character arc recently, and she suddenly reached out sounding serious, he couldn’t help but worry.

What if the plot had gone off track again?

“Alright. Come pick me up.”

After hanging up, he thought for a moment and told Medusa, “I’m going out for dinner with a friend. Follow me from a distance. Don’t get noticed, but don’t be too far either.”

Medusa gave a cold nod. “Got it.”

Soon, Yelena’s car arrived at the Grey estate gate.

Lucas didn’t invite her in. He just got into the front passenger seat.

“What’s this about?”

Yelena pointed to the Bluetooth headset in her ear. “Hold on. I’m still on the phone. I’ll explain at the restaurant.”

Lucas had no choice but to stay quiet.

Judging from what she was saying, the call was work-related.

“I’ll handle it. Don’t worry.”

“Three days at most.”

“I’m out to dinner tonight. Can’t go back to the office. We’ll deal with it tomorrow.”

Lucas eavesdropped for a bit but didn’t hear anything important. He pulled out his phone.

Glancing around, he messaged Medusa, “Did you leave yet? Where are you?”

He didn’t want her staying at the house and installing a camera or something.

Medusa replied almost instantly. “Look to your rear right.”

Rear right?

Lucas turned, and his eyes widened.

A woman in a helmet was riding a modified motorcycle, sticking close behind Yelena’s car.

The engine roared so loudly that even cracking the window made his ears ring.

What the fuck? Was she filming Fast & Furious?

Dressed like that, every driver on the road was staring. And this was supposed to be stealth?

Just as he was typing a warning for her to keep a lower profile, Yelena’s car suddenly stopped.

“We’re here.”

Lucas put away his phone and got out. Then he froze.

“The waterfront restaurant?”

“What’s wrong with it?” Yelena asked, confused by his reaction.

“This place just opened. The food is good. I brought you to try it.”

No way. If he remembered right, Zavier had just said he saw David here and was about to make trouble.

Wait a second...

He remembered.

This was a major plot point. Zavier invited Yelena out, got rejected, then saw her with David. In a fit of jealousy, he started a fight and got badly beaten.

Then he called a local thug to back him up, not knowing the guy had already lost to David. When the thug arrived, he acted all respectful to David, and Zavier got publicly humiliated while David looked cool.

Classic.

A textbook scene.

One of the most iconic events in the book was about to happen right here.

Lucas really wanted to watch.

But there was a problem. Yelena, who was supposed to be with David, was standing beside him. That might mess up the story.

Yelena listened to his thoughts and smiled slightly.

So that’s what was coming? Sounded fun. She couldn’t wait.

“Come on. The food here is really good. You’ll love it.”

Yelena smiled gently. She didn’t care whether Lucas wanted to go or not and simply pulled him along.

As they stepped inside, they saw a big crowd forming a circle, and there seemed to be a commotion in the center.

Was the fight already happening?

Lucas quickly pushed through to the front.

Sure enough.

Zavier was standing in front of David with a group of people, pointing and shouting at him.

“Fox! Don’t run. If I don’t beat you to death today, I’m not Brown! You all, keep an eye on him. Don’t let him leave. I’m calling more guys over now.”

He turned around to make the call.

Lucas crossed his arms and watched. So Brown was calling backup.

Too bad for him. The guy he’s calling is just another punching bag for the male lead. He won’t help at all.

While he was thinking this, Yelena squeezed in beside him.

The moment she appeared, the crowd got excited.

“Fuck, who’s that girl? She’s stunning.”

“Looks like Yelena, one of the four great beauties.”

“It’s definitely her. No one else has that kind of gentle vibe.”

“Who’s the guy with her? How’d he get so lucky to be having dinner with Yelena?”

“He looks familiar, but I can’t quite remember his name.”

Lucas had just wanted to quietly spectate, but to his surprise, the crowd noticed him, and he started to panic.

This was someone else’s face-slapping storyline. He didn’t want to steal the spotlight.
