Chapter 34: Quinn
Quinn and his companions arrived at Murk’s edge the afternoon of the second day. He estimated that they had picked up maybe half a day on the children and Nimah.
He ignored the voice inside him whispering reminders of the nightmare years down deep in the bottom of that chasm.
“I think I know where they were taken,” he said. “Halfway down, there are some limestone caves. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t risk going all the way down to the bottom. They wouldn’t last a day down there.”
“How do you know that?” Wraith asked.
“I know.” He answered. The last thing he wanted to do was get into a discussion about his years down in that black hell.
He pointed to the three dead cedar trees. “On the other side of those snags lay Alfheim’s border. The Sidhe call this area Dark Marches. The logical place for them to go with a load of slaves would be over there. But the trail leads downward. They are not ordinary slaves for the Sidhe. I’m afraid there is something far worse in store for them.”
