KELLER’S HOLLER

My name is Edward Wheeler. I wrote the original novel, ‘Becky and the Outlaw’ almost 50 years ago after I saw Early Johnson in a café in Del Rio, Texas. I had recognized him from the wanted posters I had seen around town. I offered to write his biography, but he turned me down. Fifteen minutes later I had witnessed him kill two men in a gunfight and a girl kill a third man by throwing a tomahawk and hitting him in the head! I recognized the makings of a good story. I started questioning everyone including the sheriff, Texas Rangers and the local townspeople. From that information I wrote ‘Becky and the Outlaw’. I’ll admit some parts were exaggerated, but my editor and the buying public liked it. There was no sequel or part 2 planned at that time.
