Chapter 3: Shelly’s Collapse
November finally brought Thanksgiving, and with that a four day weekend. Jake was extremely excited when he spoke with Shelly on the phone that ‘turkey day’. His dad was letting him stay home when he left the next day to take Julie, his older sister, to stay with their aunt and uncle and get another surgery for her hip. Jake had to make all sorts of promises and even had to check in with their neighbor, but he had big plans for time with his sexy girlfriend.
Shelly knew all of this for days in advance. She was also excited to have many hours of ‘Jake time’. But, she also had a date on Friday night ... and two on Saturday.
Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem. The Friday thing she might have just backed out on, but this guy was a big spender and Shelly wanted to build up some cash for Christmas presents. Saturday was normally a busy day for her since Jake was constantly training on Saturdays, but he was going to ditch so they’d have time together.
She somehow managed to convince herself that she could make things work.
Her plan for Friday was to wear Jake out while also getting him drunk. Things worked out really well, too well, as Jake was a total lightweight and was out of commission before dinnertime. Still, Shelly didn’t complain about not having to change and do her makeup in a fast food bathroom like she’d had to do several times before.
Jake was awake, but still out of it when she returned to his place around eleven. She excused her makeup and clothes as something she’d done for him, and even did the ‘offended girlfriend’ bit over his being too drunk to spend time together. He backed off, as she knew he would, and that’s when she slipped in her ‘emergency’.
She often talked with Jake about Becky, her supposed best friend from public school. The ‘emergency’ centered around a sad tale about Becky getting dumped by her boyfriend and how Shelly needed to go spend some ‘girl-time’ tomorrow to console her bestie. Technically, she had spent some time on the phone talking with Becky who actually had just had a bad breakup. With a girlfriend, but close enough. She didn’t count it as really lying.
Shelly promised to wear Jake out before leaving for the afternoon, and warned him that he’d better rest up while she was gone because she would return Saturday evening needing him.
The next day, she woke him up with sex and they kept going with only a few breaks for food. She left him blissfully napping by noon and hurried to get ready for her busy afternoon.
Shelly’s Saturday afternoon date went really well, although she was starting to feel a bit sore and more than a little tired.
Still, she met up with her early evening date and was suitably impressed by his sleek, black Trans Am. They went to a really nice restaurant and she lost track of time when he took her back to his room. He convinced her to smoke just a little pot and she was having such a great time with the big spender that she was shocked when she realized it was past nine pm.
Her attempts to get a ride home were met by a scoffed “I’m paying you enough for the whole night, so you’ll stay the whole night.” She couldn’t argue, the guy was really paying well. The wine was flowing and he even bought her caviar, which she didn’t like but was very impressed by. Also, he was kind of scary, which was kind of sexy, so she just decided to enjoy the night.
Shelly managed a hurried phone call, spinning a story about Becky being suicidal and how scared Shelly was and no, he shouldn’t come over because Becky was really mad at all men right now and yes, Shelly would see him in the morning.
She woke up late, hurriedly got changed, and got a taxi back to Jake’s house before lunch. He opened the door, but he didn’t let her in. Shelly was wondering why he was staring at her when he told her that she had worn the same lipstick when she went out on her date Friday night, and the same dress when she left for her Saturday date ‘with Becky’, and then he slammed the door in her face.
She cried there for half an hour, sitting on the doorstep. Then, gathering herself together, she walked down the street to find someone who would let her call a cab.
