Chapter 25: Child Of...
While Lucas was locked in a life-or-death battle against the seven beasts, two figures watched him from the shadows.
Thania and William had been following him from the very moment he stepped into the forest, their presence concealed so completely that Lucas, with his current level of power, had no hope of sensing them.
And now, as they observed his desperate struggle, they were speechless.
They watched him stumble, run, hide—fighting for his life with every ounce of strength he had. But then...
They had to stop their thoughts.
Because what they had just witnessed was beyond common sense.
Creating a new skill in the middle of a battlefield was not something anyone could do. It was an impossible feat—one that even experienced warriors struggled with.
Yet, this child, barely five years old, with no formal training in mana manipulation ... had done it.
And not just any skill.
A skill perfectly suited for this battlefield.
At this point, calling him a genius wasn’t enough.
No, he was something else entirely.
A monster.
“A monster? Bullshit.”
William’s voice cut through the silence, his eyes fixed on the boy before him. On he dead monsters.
“This guy is an abomination.”
Thania and Sirius said nothing. Because, deep down, they agreed.
What Lucas had just accomplished was beyond what even monsters could do. It defied logic itself.
William turned to Thania, his expression sharp with disbelief.
“Tell me, Thania ... what the fuck did he just do?”
His voice carried a mixture of shock and something else—something darker, something more dangerous.
“Did he just will those beasts to die? And they died?”
“Did he just use Will? Something that even you only managed to grasp not long ago?”
“Hell, even I—who wasn’t even the one he targeted—could feel it. If he had used that on me...”
William trailed off, his fists clenching.
“At the same level, he wouldn’t even need to fight me. I’d be dead before I could lift a hand.”
But despite his words, William wasn’t scared.
No.
He was grinning.
Beneath his composed facade, he was struggling to contain his excitement.
This is it.
This is what I’ve been looking for.
A twisted sense of satisfaction burned in his chest as he stared at the boy barely able to stand.
This is the disciple I need.
Lucas.
You’re mine now.
I, William Pendragon, will make sure the entire world knows that I am the master of this abomination—the one who will one day hold the world in his palm.
The thought alone made his grin widen.
Thania and Sirius turned to look at him, their expressions unreadable.
They stared at him the way one would stare at a lunatic who had just escaped an asylum.
But William didn’t care.
He was already planning. Already thinking of what hellish training he would put Lucas through.
“I will make your life a nightmare, Lucas.”
“But you will thank me later.”
...
Thania, on the other hand, remained silent.
Surprised? Of course.
Shocked? Maybe.
But not nearly as much as William.
Because unlike him, she already knew Lucas’ affinity with Death was beyond comprehension.
Even she—a master of the concept—felt inferior to him.
But even with that ... this shouldn’t be possible.
Will isn’t something you can just use. Not without understanding intent to an absurdly profound level.
Even among Saints, few could achieve such a thing.
And even if one did manage to awaken their Will...
No one in history had ever wielded the Will of Death.
Death—the end of all things. The concept that governed the living and the dead.
It was impossible.
It was beyond the reach of mortals.
And yet...
