Scene 5 — Cal
Cal crouched in anticipation, hiding behind a large tree. They had agreed that they would attack either as soon as they were spotted or when Annie was halfway across bridge one, whichever came first. Cal quickly realized one thing they hadn’t thought about was that carrying a projectile - his boxers - and a can of paint wasn’t actually all that simple. He decided he would throw his projectile first then hope to get lucky with the can although it was likely the defenders would prevent him getting close enough.
To his surprise they remained undetected until Annie was halfway across the bridge, and he launched himself from cover. He was about 20 yards from the trail so the defenders would only have a few seconds to react. Tommy shouted a warning, the defenders had spotted Lindsey and her bright orange shorts first.
Lindsey put a fake move on Dillon, who was somewhat limited in his mobility anyway, and created enough space to launch her can of paint at Annie like someone tossing the dishwater out of a bucket. She would have scored a direct hit but the rangy Stefan actually did something coordinated and used his considerable size to shield his wife from damage. Frustrated, Lindsey sprinted across the trail towards Cal’s position.
Cal benefitted from the initial focus on Lindsey. Before Team 4 - Bailey and Cara - could really get in position he was able launch his boxers in a crumbled ball at Annie. Bailey was too short to intervene, but Cal lead his throw a bit too much and the paint only got on the front of Annie’s thigh with a bit on her shin as the projectile garment slid off her.
