Chapter 1
Edison Gonzales O’Shea---I am the only son of Dr. Willard (Will) O’Shea and GG, Ginny Gonzales, both world renowned for their work in animal reproduction. Can you believe that they named me after a guy who electrocuted animals to prove his point? I hated that name! When I was 12 years old, I stopped answering to it. I chose to be called ‘Rowdy’. I picked that name after watching Clint Eastwood play the character ‘Rowdy Yates’ in the old TV series ‘Rawhide’. A cowboy named Cholo, who lives in the northern pastures, had loaned me a set of DVD’s with the complete ‘Rawhide’ series. I watched them over and over and decided that the name ‘Rowdy’ better suits my personality than that animal killer they named me after.
My rebellious nature only got worse in my teens. I went to the one-room school there on the ranch and listened to all the lectures by the people who ran various divisions of the ranch. Interesting but nothing seemed to peak my interest. That worried my parents. They were always asking me what I wanted to do when I ‘grew up’.
