Chapter 95

“What the hell have you done?” a villager shouted, furious, believing the outsiders had defiled the sacred rite.

As they moved to seize the crown and expel the blasphemers, the unthinkable happened.

Dozens of villagers transformed into Human-Headed Spiders before their eyes.

“Divine punishment...” the crowd gasped, retreating, some dropping to their knees.

“Great deity, spare us! The blasphemers are those outsiders. Punish them!”

But the Human-Headed Spiders, devoid of reason—or needing none—lunged at the nearest villagers, injecting venom.

The square became a hellscape. Villagers writhed under the monsters, screaming as venom burned through them.

Their faces twisted, unrecognizable. Some clawed their throats, as if to ease the agony, eyes bulging, bloodshot, filled with despair.

Skin reddened, scorched, sprouting grotesque blisters that burst, oozing foul pus.

Survivors fled, only to be hunted down.

Bennett’s group gasped, horrified. Ethan had warned of danger, but this inferno of torment shook them, faces pale, pulses racing.

As the spiders attacked, they pulled untainted villagers to safety, retreating deeper into the square.

“What did you do?” Mia, their first-day guide, trembled among the rescued, eyes wide with terror.

“We—” Bennett started, but a Human-Headed Spider spat webbing, snaring Mia’s back.

Before anyone could react, she was yanked into the spider horde with a scream.

The Village Elder, now leading the spiders, stalked toward her.

“No, please...” Mia scrambled, pleading for help.

The spiders formed a tight ring, offering no escape.

Bennett hesitated. His Beast King’s Judgment could stun one monster for a minute, but not a swarm. Lion’s Roar could scatter them, saving Mia, but its brief effect made it a last resort.

As he wavered, a bizarre scene froze him.

The spiders knelt, bowing toward Mia as if in worship.

The Elder Spider chanted guttural, arcane syllables.

A dark premonition gripped the group, their mood sinking like storm clouds.
