Chapter 11

When Serena led the group upstairs, Ethan had already straightened Lily’s clothes.

He wasn’t feeling guilty about anything, just trying to avoid unnecessary complications.

Reactions varied when everyone saw the body, but most turned pale, broke out in cold sweats, and the more timid ones trembled all over, clamping their hands over their mouths to stifle any sounds, while tears streamed down their faces uncontrollably.

Lucas clearly had the strongest nerves among them. He only frowned briefly at the sight before calmly approaching the corpse to examine it.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

Daisy couldn’t hold back when she saw Lucas casually removing Lily’s clothes, and she started berating him.

“Checking the body.” Lucas didn’t even look up as he closely inspected the bite marks on Lily. “I don’t know if you’re still hung up on propriety between men and women right now, but to me, a dead human is just a hunk of meat.”

“You...”

“No external injuries, so no doubt she died from having all her blood drained.” Lucas summed it up. “The bite marks are small, probably from a child.”

A child...

Everyone paled even more, their minds flashing back to the scene from the day before.

The shadow of a young girl loomed over the entire hall, her ghostly pale face revealing two long, slender fangs.

Bella, the castle owner’s daughter. In that moment, they all realized she was a blood-sucking monster.

Last night, she must have drained Lily dry in the game room.

Their faces grew even whiter. The monster was so close, and they had to survive alongside these creatures for six more days?

“Who was the last person to see Lily last night?”

Lucas’s question snapped everyone back to reality. Seeing their blank stares, as if they didn’t understand why he was asking, he let out a cold smirk.

“You don’t seriously think this is over, do you? One of Rosie’s house rules is that everyone must return to their guest rooms after midnight.”

“But Lily knew that and still didn’t follow it. She ended up in the game room alone late at night. Doesn’t that strike you as suspicious?”

Daisy caught on quickly. “Are you saying one of us deliberately lured her to the third-floor game room and locked her in?”

“That’s impossible.” Ethan shot down the idea right away.

“How do you know?” Daisy challenged him, unconvinced.

“Because the game room door doesn’t even have a lock, and there’s no way to jam it from the outside with a stick or anything.” Ethan walked over to the door and pointed it out. “It only pushes inward, so blocking it from the outside wouldn’t work. Only someone inside could barricade it.”

“Of course, you might argue that someone was inside blocking her way out, but then why isn’t that person dead in this room too?”

Daisy fell silent at that.

“You’re right about that.” Lucas gave him a cold glance. “But that’s not what I meant. I think it’s likely someone instigated her to come here in the middle of the night.”
