Chapter 108

The pig-headed creature’s icy gaze swept over the group, devoid of warmth, like a butcher sizing up livestock ready for slaughter.

When his eyes landed on Ethan, a flicker of surprise passed through them, gone in an instant.

Henry, steeling himself under the creature’s oppressive presence, spoke up, his voice hoarse, tinged with a tremor. “These are Testers, not prisoners. Even you can’t touch them without permission. Keep that in mind.”

The pig-headed creature snorted, ignoring him, and lumbered to Number 78, still pinned to the wall.

Blood-flecked foam dribbled from the prisoner’s mouth, his eyes dull, lifeless.

A knife’s handle protruded from his chest. The creature yanked it free, revealing a butcher’s blade.

The blade had not only pierced Number 78 but also embedded into the Prison’s wall, holding him in place.

His body slumped to the floor, limp. The creature sheathed the blade at its waist, hoisted both corpses with a massive arm, and trudged deeper into the Prison without a backward glance.

Julian’s eyes glinted as he watched the creature’s hulking form recede.

The full picture wasn’t clear, but the deaths playing out before them pointed to one thing: this Prison ran on a brutal food chain.

The warden and guards sat at the top, unquestioned. But the prisoners seemed to follow a similar hierarchy.

The first to die wore green, and so did the second.

The guards’ indifference suggested they allowed, or even encouraged, prisoners to slaughter each other—perhaps a twisted selling point of the Prison.

Could the uniform colors mark their place in the hierarchy?

Green seemed to be the bottom rung.

Or maybe they were factions, and it was just coincidence that two greens died in front of them.

Henry might have answers, but Julian held back, choosing to observe.

He wanted to gauge the eight men— who was useful, who was dead weight to test the rules, and, most crucially, who was Clara’s ally.

His gaze lingered on the pig-headed creature, thoughtful.

If this was a food chain, the guards, below the warden, should outrank all others. Yet Henry seemed wary of the creature.

Could it be a key to this Dreamplay? Maybe worth probing for intel, or even winning over.

Julian knew no amount of Blessings could overpower a monster like that.

Used right, the creature could be a game-changer.

Ethan, too, was piecing things together. He’d noticed the purple and green uniforms.

The pig-headed creature piqued his curiosity, but the Prison’s structure fascinated him more.
