Chapter 105

A sharp clap of hands drew every eye in the room.

The man responsible, around thirty, sported a slicked-back hairstyle and a neat goatee trimmed to a point at his chin.

Dressed in a casual blazer, his piercing eyes and polished demeanor radiated a magnetic charm.

“Hey, everyone,” he said, voice smooth. “I’m Julian. It’s an honor to join you all in this Dreamplay.”

“We’re partners now, so let’s work together to get through this. How about we start with introductions?”

The group exchanged wary glances, skeptical of his call for unity, but they shared their names regardless.

Ethan committed each one to memory, pairing faces with names and noting subtle quirks of character.

When the introductions wrapped, Julian continued. “Before we head in, let’s talk about Abyss Prison.”

He explained the likelihood of the prison splitting into male and female sections, his eyes scanning for reactions.

Ethan recognized the move—Julian’s first probe.

Both Julian’s team and Clara’s were seasoned, likely suspecting the prison’s structure beforehand.

The six of them, already clued in, showed no surprise.

The other four were different. Whether part of a team or random players, those unprepared would betray something—a flicker of shock or worry.

Ethan glanced at the others, instantly mimicking their expressions with Imitation, his face a perfect blend of surprise and unease.

They were stunned by Julian’s insight, anxious about their situation, especially since teamwork across genders might be needed without prior coordination.

Julian was using this to pinpoint Clara’s teammate.

But he frowned, unable to single anyone out. Clara and her partner, Nora Finn, were old hands, their composure clear from the start.

That left Clara’s male teammate among the men, but every male face showed some degree of surprise, masking the truth.

While Julian scrutinized the group, Ethan did the same, focusing on the women.

Clara had described Julian as arrogant and calculating. If teamwork was key, he’d likely brought one or two reliable women for intel.

Scanning the five women, Ethan wasn’t surprised. Clara and Nora’s expressions stayed calm.

Among the other three, one looked genuinely shocked. Using Insight, he caught the other two faking it through subtle cues.

So, Julian had two female teammates?

To be sure, Ethan checked the men. To his surprise, besides himself and Julian, one other was pretending.
