Chapter 26

Casey couldn’t help but steal a couple more glances at Liam, “I will have my assistant deliver it to you in the morning.”

After Casey left, Liam turned around, his hand resting on the doorknob, about to step inside when he suddenly remembered another matter that needed attention. He spun back around and called out to Robin.

“Ask Emma to come to the study.”

Liam stood in the study, fiddling with a collectible in his hand. A sound came from the doorway, and after Liam gave permission to enter, Emma hesitantly stepped into the room and dropped to her knees with a soft thud.

Initially, she had felt a sense of pride in what she had said, thinking perhaps she would be given special treatment by Sir. But when she saw Sir sacrifice his own hand, tearing his palm until it bled profusely just to bring Evelyn back inside, she began to panic.

Isn’t it said that Liam despises Evelyn the most? How can someone who claims to hate another be so afraid of their death? After all, with Liam’s abilities, erasing someone’s existence would be effortless unless ... there were mixed feelings of love and hate!

At this thought, Emma couldn’t stop herself from trembling all over and prostrating herself on the ground once again.

Liam remained impassive, running a brush over the surface of the jade artifact several times. It wasn’t until Emma’s knees and back started to ache from kneeling that Liam finally turned his gaze towards her, “Why are you kneeling?”

Emma’s eyes welled up with tears, trembling as she watched Liam’s every move, “Sir ... I ... I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to speak out of turn earlier. I didn’t intend to make things difficult for Ms. Clarke. I ... I truly didn’t know that Sir cared about Ms. Clarke ... Crack!”

The jade artifact fell and shattered into pieces right before Emma’s eyes.

Emma instantly turned pale, terrified to the point of almost losing control, looking at Rafael with sheer terror.

“Who do you think cares?” Liam narrowed his eyes; although his face betrayed no emotion, it sent chills down one’s spine.
