Chapter 43: Marry Me
“Oh? You’re here as well, Master Leonidas? I think I know what you’re doing here!”
Falcon sneered, “I guess you’re here to heal Renee as well, aren’t you? I’ve heard about the jade scepter you’ve gotten your hands on recently. Sadly, I have to tell you it’s useless. Renee has a frosty constituent. If you try to use the jade scepter to heal her, you’re going to shatter it into pieces!”
As soon as Falcon finished his sentence, Erasmus and Leonidas gaped in disbelief. They were surprised to find out that Falcon knew about it as well.
“Stop talking nonsense! There’s no such thing as a frosty constituent! Get lost!” Leonidas swung his cane at Falcon.
Just like David, Falcon mentioned a frosty constituent. If they were both right about it, Leonidas would be left with egg on his face. Hence, he had to chase him out of there before the latter said anything more.
Falcon sneered and grabbed onto the fast-approaching cane with his hand. “Master Leonidas, you’re too old for this. Your young and beautiful wife would be sad if anything happens to you!”
“You animal! I’ll kill you!” Leonidas let go of his cane and sent a kick Falcon’s way.
As a matter of fact, Leonidas did marry a beautiful woman a lot younger than he was. Nevertheless, it was deemed disrespectful of Falcon to speak of her that way.
Falcon smiled arrogantly and sent a kick toward Leonidas at the same time.
Thud!
Leonidas was sent flying away with a powerful kick and landed on the ground heavily.
“Senior, are you okay?” Erasmus panicked and dashed toward Leonidas to help him up.
Leonidas was astounded because he didn’t expect Falcon to become that strong within two years.
David froze at that instant. Did I feel a wave of spiritual energy when he kicked Leonidas? Is he an energy cultivator as well?
David was puzzled because he didn’t know anyone who could manipulate one’s spiritual energy apart from Draco. Any person who could do that was considered being an energy cultivator.
“As I said, Master Leonidas, you’re too old for this. It’s about time you let the younger generation takeover! Besides, I’m here to heal Renee. Why do you guys have to be so mean to me?” Falcon said placidly.
“How did you suddenly become so strong, Falcon?” Leonidas found it odd to see Falcon’s strength grow so rapidly.
“Haha! That’s my secret! But I can tell you that my mentor is now a follower of Phantom Monastery. I might even be the head in due time!” Falcon exclaimed excitedly.
“Traitor!” Leonidas roared. “Not only did you guys betray us, but you’ve also been worshipping the evil?
Both of you are embarrassing us! I must eradicate you traitors today!”
As Leonidas was shouting, he was going to attack Falcon again.
“Senior, wait!” Erasmus stopped him. It was obvious that neither of them was a match for Falcon’s ability.
“No matter how hard you try, none of you can beat me. So, please stop embarrassing yourselves. I’ve already said I came to heal Renee. Why don’t you guys believe me?” Falcon was getting impatient.
“I don’t believe you’re here out of kindness, Falcon. What are your conditions?” Erasmus queried.
“Master Erasmus, I’ve known Renee since we both were little. I’d like to marry her after I healed her. Is that too much to ask?” Falcon smiled faintly before shifting his passionate gaze toward Renee.
“In your dreams! I’d rather let my daughter stay single forever than let her marry you!” Erasmus gritted his teeth and spoke.
Despite Erasmus’ degradation, Falcon boasted confidently, “If you don’t let me help Renee, she’s going to die within three days. Do you want to watch her die?”
“Do you think you’re the only one who knows about frosty constituents? Mr. Chance here told us about it earlier on. Stop being so cocky, will you?”
After that, Erasmus looked at David respectfully and said, “Please do whatever you can to save my daughter, Mr. Chance! We’ll give you some privacy!”
Prior to Falcon’s appearance, Erasmus was still doubtful of David. However, he trusted David upon hearing about the same thing from Falcon. I’d rather put my trust in David than in Falcon! He’s a traitor, and he’s up to no good!
Falcon immediately looked at David with his furrowed brows. How does he know about the frosty constituent?
As far as he was concerned, the entities which he worshipped taught about it at Phantom Monastery. Falcon had first heard about it from Dorieus, the former head of Phantom Monastery. Back then, he followed his mentor leave Lagrange Monastery and joined Dorieus at Phantom Monastery instead.
With a customized sword in his hand, Dorieus was extremely strong. That was why Erasmus dared not fight Falcon although he had forced his way into Lagrange Monastery.
“Not only can I heal her, but I believe I can help her unleash the potential she has! You guys should head out now.” David nodded.
“Did you see that, Falcon? Mr. Chance is capable of healing Renee as well. I think it’s time you give up on your ridiculous dreams and leave! Otherwise, you’re going to regret it!” Erasmus threatened.
“Nonsense!” Falcon’s expression changed dramatically upon hearing that.
“The frosty constituent is full of frosty energy! If ancient Leonidas’ jade scepter was useless against it, what could this fellow do?”
Falcon was panicking because he knew he wasn’t the only one capable of healing Renee anymore.
Leonidas was extremely angered for being called ancient. Although he had the urge to beat Falcon up, he knew he was too weak to fight him.
“If I’m so powerless, do you really think you can heal her?” David asked.
“Of course, I can! My grandmaster gave this Starry Compass to me. I believe it can absorb an unlimited amount of frosty energy!”
As Falcon was talking, he took out something which looked like a compass. It was about just as big as his palm.
Apart from the seven stars carved on it, it looked just like an ordinary compass.
David’s eyes lit up as soon as he saw the Starry Compass. Wow! That’s incredible!
At that moment, the Starry Compass was emitting a huge wave of spiritual energy. So the spiritual energy I felt just now wasn’t from Falcon. It was from the Starry Compass! I must get my hands on that magical item!
David was so determined to own the Starry Compass that he wouldn’t hesitate to kill Falcon for it.
“It’s just an ordinary compass. Are you planning to use that to absorb the frosty energy out of Renee? What makes you think that thing can do so when my jade scepter didn’t even work?” Leonidas scoffed.
In his eyes, that compass was just plainly a compass.
“You old fool! I’m going to show you how impressive the Starry Compass is!” Falcon then immediately pointed the Starry Compass at Renee.
All of the sudden, the Starry Compass shone brightly, and it absorbed all the frosty energy in Renee.
It had completely restored the color on Renee’s face. Furthermore, she was even opening her eyes gradually.
“Renee!”
Upon seeing that his daughter had regained consciousness, Erasmus instantly rushed over with all the excitement in the world.
“Dad...”
Renee glanced around the room with a lost look in her eyes. At the sight of the crowd milling around, apprehension promptly swamped her.
“You scared me to death, Renee! Do you know you had been unconscious for several days?”
Tears streamed down Erasmus’ face.
Although it was said that cultivators needed to sever all emotional attachments when they embarked on the path to immortality, few could actually do it.
“Do you believe me now, Master Erasmus?” With a sneer on his face, Falcon drawled, “But let me tell you something—this is just a temporary fix. If I don’t do anything to treat Renee, she’ll still revert to her initial state. Also, I’ll be so kind to tell you that I’m the only person who can cure her of her frosty constituent in this whole world! All others are charlatans! If you’ve made up your mind, kick all these charlatans out!”
“Who are you calling a charlatan? You look more like one yourself! Stop blowing your own trumpet with that worthless thing that’s no more than a bronze mirror! If you’re so great, throw it away, and we shall see who’s better!” Josephine stepped forward and snapped viciously, long since sick of the man’s arrogance.
As Falcon stared at Josephine, who stood out, a flash of something glinted in his eyes. He didn’t fly into a rage but leered at her with a salacious look in his eyes. “Others may all scram, but this lady can stay. I love such a feral temperament!”
“What a piece of trash!”
Josephine spat at him hard as she said that.
At that, Falcon was momentarily stunned before he wiped the spit off his face. His temper spiked at once.
“Do you believe that I’ll finish you off right this instance, you b*tch?”
Seeing that he had gone off the deep end, Josephine instinctively backed up a step. Meanwhile, David took a step forward and shielded her behind him.
Eyeing the man disdainfully, he scoffed, “You’re acting all high and mighty because of the Starry Compass, no? How are you different from a good-for-nothing without it? This Starry Compass is a magical item, but it’s an utter waste in your possession! If one cultivates with it, only half the effort is required to achieve double the results! Alas, a useless piece of trash like you have no idea how to use it!”
Falcon was startled, and red-hot fury swiftly blazed through him because David was right—it was all thanks to the Starry Compass that he managed to defeat Leonidas and heal Renee. Without it, he was nothing at all!
