Chapter 14
Early Wednesday morning, Trey did his forms and martial arts workout in the dojo. Then he showered, dressed, took his luggage to the F250, and drove to the airport. Jack saw him and laughed, and Mom said, “You can’t wear that hat.” Trey said to take it up with Grandmother because she selected his outfit. She asked what suit, shirt, and tie he would wear, and Trey asked if she wanted to know about his underwear, too. Mom turned red, and Jack and Trey laughed.
They landed around 9 a.m., and an SUV met them and took them to the hotel. They ate a late breakfast and then dressed for the event. Jack and Mom had a separate suite, and when they met in the hall, Mom said, “Oh my god, I’m going to kill my mother.” Trey said, “Hey, pretty lady, do you want to sit on my lap for a selfie?” Jack and Mom laughed, and then she punched his arm.
Their driver met them in front of the hotel and drove them to the Capitol Building. Then, an intern met them and escorted them to the Senate chambers. Jack was sworn in, and then the fun began. Pictures were taken after the ceremony, and then Trey stood in the background, tagging phones and reading minds. The intern took them to the majority leader’s office when the meet-and-greet was over. Senator John Hollingsworth welcomed Jack to the Senate and assigned him Robert Whitehurst’s old office.
Senator Hollingsworth gave Jack a thick three-ring binder to read and said we’d meet tomorrow at 8 a.m. to discuss the Senate operational procedures. They shook hands goodbye, and the intern gave them directions to Jack’s office. On the way, Trey asked Jack if he remembered what he said about exercise. Jack laughed, and Mom asked what was so funny. Jack told her I said about the senators not seeing their dicks for years, and she laughed and giggled to Jack’s office.
When they arrived at his office, Jack introduced himself, Kay, his wife, and Trey, his son. He told Senator Whitehurst’s old staff he wasn’t looking to fire anyone. He would meet individually with each staff member to discuss his requirements. But he demands loyalty, and they’re welcome to resign if they can’t provide that. Trey read the staff’s minds and tagged their phones. When they got to Jack’s private office, everything of Senator Whitehurst had been removed.
Jack and Mom listed the immediate items they needed and then asked the office staff what happened to Senator Whitehurst’s belongings. They said the senator’s chief of staff, Carl Busby, removed them. When asked where Carl was, they said he had resigned. Jack called the FBI and the Capitol Police. He filed theft of the items and said there could have been classified files in the office. However, the items removed were worth over $15,000, making it a felony.
When they returned to the hotel, Trey said he had done his job and now it was their shit show. Everyone laughed, and Trey used the audio/video detector on the suites and gave it to Jack. He told him to sweep his office at least twice a week. He’d suspect someone would bug his office soon, and he can’t trust his staff yet. Jack thanked Trey for the device, and they went to the hotel restaurant for dinner.
While they ate, Mom asked Trey what he was doing for the rest of the week. He said he had a wardrobe fitting on Friday at Universal Studios. While he’s there, they are supposed to give a date for the start of filming. He’ll return Friday evening and keep Grandmother company since you abandoned us. Jack and Mom laughed, finished dinner, returned to their suites, and said goodnight.
Trey went to the hotel gym early Thursday morning and did his forms and weight training workout. Then he returned to his suite, showered, dressed, packed, and went to the hotel restaurant. After breakfast, he picked up two free newspapers from the reception desk and took a cab to the airport. Security wasn’t bad this early, and he arrived at the gate fifteen minutes early.
The flight took off on time and landed in North Dakota at 10 a.m. Trey arrived home at 11 a.m. and was greeted by Thor and Bella. He gave them attention and treats, then sat at the kitchen table and told Grandmother and Maria the details of his trip. Grandmother showed Trey the local newspaper and said he made quite an impression on the news, too. Everyone laughed when he told them about Mom’s reaction to his outfit.
While they ate lunch, Trey told them about Carl Busby taking the senator’s things from his office and Jack reporting it to the FBI and Capitol Police. Grandmother said Carl was in serious trouble because the senator was a member of the Intelligence Committee. They finished lunch, and Trey went upstairs to unpack. Then Richard called and asked why he was in Washington, DC.
Trey said his Dad was appointed US Senator, so he attended the ceremony. It wasn’t a big deal, and Richard said, “Are you kidding me? You made national news wearing the black cowboy hat and snake-skin boots?” Trey said, “Yeah, that was my Grandmother’s idea, and Richard said it worked.” Entertainment News reported that actor Trey Bowman visited the Senate. Richard said to be prepared to answer questions about it and said goodbye.
Meanwhile, Gary Busby was at home emailing his resume to political action groups and lobbying firms. He had no luck getting another chief of staff position, so he felt his years working for Senator Whitehurst could get him a job. Then the doorbell rang, and when he answered it, the FBI handed him a search warrant. They found all the items he took from Senator Whitehurst’s office in his office and the garage. Gary was handcuffed and arrested on felony charges of theft and stealing classified files.
After Richard’s phone call, Trey checked his cloud account. He had over thirty phone tags from his visit to the Senate. They weren’t all senators; he got lobbyists and Senate staff members, too. Trey programmed his AI to monitor the phone tags using keywords to alert him of problems for Jack. When he finished, Grandmother called him to dinner, so he saved his work and went to the kitchen.
During dinner, Grandmother said Kay called bitching about all the work she had to do while Jack attended meetings. Trey said that’s the life they chose when Jack accepted the nomination. It’s better that she has something to do than sit at home or worse, have her here bitching about Jack being gone. Grandmother said You’re right, we don’t want her here and everyone laughed. They finished dinner, watched TV for an hour, and went to bed.
Early Friday morning, Trey did his forms and martial arts workout in the dojo. When finished, he showered, dressed, grabbed his laptop bag, and drove to the airport. The flight took two and a half hours, and they landed at LAX at 8 a.m. A town car was waiting at baggage claim, and they drove to Universal Studios. Trey checked in at the guard station, got his pass, and went to the wardrobe department.
Tonya, the lead seamstress, welcomed Trey and told him to go to the dressing room and strip to his underwear. Trey told her that if they wanted to get to the best part, they had to have the cash ready, as he doesn’t accept one-dollar bills. The women laughed, and the fun began. First, he was measured from his head to his feet. Then he tried on the clothing, which was marked up for alteration. They took an hour break, and he went to the canteen for lunch.
Aaron Wright, the director of “Discovering Jaxson Dufort,” sat at his table. He asked how the wardrobe fitting was going, and Trey said it was okay minus the roaming hands. Aaron laughed and said, “We’re shooting your scenes a week from Monday.” He asked Trey if he had any flight experience. Trey said no, but he completed ground school, bought the X-Plane simulator program, and had been practicing for his license. Aaron said Great, because there are flight scenes in the movie.
Aaron said we would start shooting in North Carolina and then move to Maryland. From there, we’ll shoot scenes in Virginia and DC. You’ll be able to get some flight hours towards your license while filming, and Trey said Great. Aaron said we’ll email your itinerary this weekend, said goodbye, and left. He returned to the wardrobe department, and they finished at 2 p.m. His driver rushed to the airport to catch his flight home. Trey tipped him $100 and ran into the terminal.
Luckily, there wasn’t a long line at security, and he made his 4 p.m. flight. They landed in North Dakota at 8 p.m., and he arrived home before nine. Grandmother and the dogs welcomed him, and Trey told Grandmother and Maria about his trip, minus the flight training. Then he said goodnight, went to his room, and crashed.
Trey bypassed his early Saturday morning exercises, showered, dressed, went to the abandoned house, and picked up his dark web order. He drove to the convenience store, opened the package, removed the trackers, and threw them into the bed of a pickup truck. Returning home, he saddled Blackie and they took off for their ride and took the long trail. Returning to the stables, Trey cared for Blackie and went to the kitchen.
Grandmother and Maria had breakfast ready, so they sat and ate. Grandmother said Kay called again, this time bitching about staying in the hotel. So, this weekend they are searching for places to rent or lease. They finally set up his office and will interview the staff next week. Trey said he was sorry he missed Mom’s calls and that he would look forward to missing her future calls, and everyone laughed.
After breakfast, he took his purchases upstairs and checked them out. The audio/video detectors were a new, more compact model. The white noise generators were cube-shaped and four inches square. Then he had an idea and told Grandmother he had to run an errand and would miss lunch.
He drove to the adult bookstore at the edge of town, where Trey bought a paddle, ball gag, and Velcro restraints. Then, he called Jack using “The Silencer” app. Trey asked Jack where to send a package that he could receive on Monday. Jack said to send it to the office and gave Trey the address.
He asked what it was, and Trey said it was a surprise and said goodbye. Then he went to FedEx and put the purchases in a box with the white noise generator. He wrote Jack a note explaining how the white noise generator operated. Then he said Dr. Trey recommends at least one weekly treatment for Mom with the other items. He laughed, enclosing the note and sending the package.
When he arrived home, dinner was ready, so they sat and ate. Trey told Grandmother and Maria what he had sent to Jack and the enclosed note. They laughed and said Kay would be pissed at you. Trey said maybe, but it would solve her bitching problem, causing more laughter. Besides, I’m leaving for the movie shoot next Sunday, so I won’t see her for a while. They finished dinner and watched the national news.
There was a story about Gary Busby, the chief of staff for former US Senator Robert Whitehurst. He was arrested for felony theft and stealing classified documents from the former Senator’s office. They laughed, and Grandmother said it served the asshole right for stealing Robert’s things. Trey said yes, and he’d bet Gary’s ass would be popular in prison, too. Grandmother and Maria laughed hard, and he said goodnight and went to bed.
Early Sunday morning, Trey did his forms, showered, dressed, and drove the mule to the cave. He checked the wind generators, satellite dishes, batteries, and the power. Everything worked fine, so he turned on the computer and checked the satellite links. They were still connected, and he had access. Trey wondered why the links weren’t disconnected and figured they were overlooked. Then he went to his hidden room, got 50k in cash for his trip, turned off the computer, locked up the cave, and returned to the garage.
Trey went to his room, put the cash in the metal foot locker, and went to the kitchen. Grandmother and Maria had breakfast ready, so they sat and ate. During breakfast, Grandmother asked Trey when he thought they would get a call on Monday. He said the package will be delivered by 10 a.m., so Mom or Jack should call no later than noon. Then he asked Grandmother if she had to spank Mom often when she was young, and everyone laughed.
After breakfast, Trey returned to his room and did the homework for his online college courses. Then, he did a virus scan and saw that an intrusion attempt had been made on his computer. Trey checked his cloud account and saw that the bots had tracked it. He had the hacker’s computer files, so the bots he programmed in the firewall worked. Trey read the computer files, and the hacker was Tim Long, an IT professional working for the FBI.
Tim had dozens of worms and viruses on his computer and a separate network from the FBI to disguise the intrusion. When Trey checked Tim’s emails, he saw one from FBI Director Michael Goodson requesting that Tim do his magic on Trey Bowman’s computer. The Director requested that Tim keep him updated on what he finds. Trey returned to Tim’s toolbox and saw a worm he called “The Replicator.” It would transfer to all the receiver’s devices (phone, laptop, tablet, and home computer).
He copied it and made programming changes so it would report to his anonymous cloud account. Then, using a backdoor to Tim’s computer, Trey wrote the director an email from Tim. It said the target has an advanced firewall, making it difficult. He will get in, but it will take some time. Trey attached “The Replicator” worm and sent the email. He laughed and looked forward to knowing everything about the director. The good part was that it came from Tim, so he would be blamed if it were discovered.
