Chapter 10

Trey woke up at 2 a.m., completed his forms, went to the gym, and did his weight training. Returning to his bedroom, he showered, dressed, and packed for the trip to Vegas. He included the audio/video detector and 10k in cash for an emergency. Trey took his bags and golf clubs to the front door. Jack and Mom showed up at 5:30 and went to the airport. The Gulfstream was waiting and was the first to take off when the airport opened.

After eight, we landed at Harry Reed International Airport, and Jack rented an SUV. The drive to The Wynn Hotel was short, and they checked in. The receptionist said, “Welcome back, Mr. Bowman, and they upgraded us to deluxe suites after Trey introduced his parents.” The package was there from Callaway, and they went to their suites. Mom was amazed they did that. Jack said Trey’s suite was comped, too. They do that with celebrities to bring in guests. Everyone unpacked when they arrived at their suites, and then they reviewed the sponsorship agreement. They signed it and put it into the prepaid FedEx envelope. Mom took it to drop off at reception and went to the spa.

Jack and Trey, wearing his Callaway polo and hat, went to the Desert Pines Golf Club. They paid the course fee, got two buckets of balls, and went to the practice range to warm up. Then they went to the starting line and were surprised to see no one there. Jack teed off, then Trey followed him. Jack commented that his drives were longer, and Trey agreed. He’d held back, but not enough, and Jack noticed. After birdies on the first and second holes, Jack asked Trey if he was using the simulator. Trey said he uses it twice a week, and Jack said he needed to get one too, and they laughed.

They were unnoticed until the 18th tee, when Trey saw watchers in golf carts taking pictures. After they finished, Jack said, “Let’s get out of here before you get mobbed for autographs.” They hurried to the SUV. Once they arrived at their suites, Jack and Trey added their scorecards. Jack shot one over par, and Trey shot an eight under. Trey quickly swept both suites for listening devices and cameras. Jack’s and Mom’s suite had an alarm clock camera, and he unplugged it and put it into the nightstand drawer.

On the way to the restaurant to meet Mom, Jack asked Trey not to say anything about the camera. We met Mom at the restaurant, and Jack lied and told her there was a waiting line to tee off because of our late arrival. After lunch, Jack and Mom went to do their thing, and Trey returned to his suite. He caught a man inside his bedroom setting up a camera alarm clock. He knocked the man out and read his mind. His name was Jerry Roberson, a PI, tailing the husband suspected of cheating by his client. Jerry saw the opportunity to make some extra cash selling celebrity photos.

Trey beat Jerry up and added several kicks to the balls. Then he carried him to the stairway and shoved him. Jerry tumbled down the stairs, and Trey returned to his suite. Jerry had a duffel bag with the tools of his trade. A card reader he used to get into his suite, a camera with a 10-foot snake attached to see under doors, and two expensive cameras with an assortment of lenses. The items that interested him most were the laptop and SD cards.

He hacked into the laptop and was surprised to see a file for the film’s producer, Ray Tucker, who had gone on hiatus. Jerry had photos of Ray meeting with men who looked like mobsters or loan sharks, so he wouldn’t act in his movie. There were also photos of Ray partying with a young woman, but no sex photos yet. Trey put everything back into the duffel bag, exited the hotel through the rear entrance, and took a cab to a UPS store. He shipped the duffel bag home and returned to the hotel.

At 5 p.m., he ordered room service for dinner. Trey was eating dinner when there was a knock on the door. It was Jack who invited him out to dinner with them. He told Jack he was already eating, so enjoy a nice evening with your wife. Jack left laughing, and he finished dinner and took a nap. At 9 p.m., Trey got a call waking him up for a private card game. He showered, dressed, put on his disguise, and went to the poker game. He cashed out at 1 a.m., tipped the dealer a grand, returned to his suite, and crashed.

Trey woke up at his usual time Saturday morning, did his forms, put on his swimsuit, and went to the pool. He swam laps for 30 minutes, returned to his suite, ordered room service, showered, and dressed. When Jack knocked on the door, he had just finished eating, and they drove to the Desert Pines Golf Club. They arrived at the pro shop when it opened, paid the course fee, grabbed two buckets of balls, and went to the practice range.

When they warmed up, they headed to the starting line, but no one was there, so they teed off. Jack said it was great not having to wait for the slow players ahead, and Trey agreed. They finished the round unnoticed and went back to the hotel. Once inside Trey’s suite, they added up their scorecards. Jack shot two under par, and Trey shot twelve under. Jack said it was good that they finished early, or your score would have caused a media frenzy, and Trey agreed.

Jack went to his suite to change and pick up Mom. Trey changed clothes and put on his disguise because he sensed Mom had plans after lunch. They met in the hallway, and Mom asked Trey why he wore a disguise. He said, “Because I know how my devious Mom’s mind works,” and everyone laughed. During lunch, Mom said she wanted to go shopping at the hotel stores, and he and Jack groaned, causing Mom to laugh.

After lunch, they went shopping and followed Mom to two stores. Then Trey pulled Jack aside and took him to the men’s shop he had visited earlier. The saleswoman set Jack up with two pairs of slacks, three silk shirts, and a leather bomber jacket with a fur collar. Trey got one of the jackets, but in a different color. He paid for his and Jack’s purchases, adding them to his account, and they went looking for Mom. She was in a lingerie shop, and they snuck up behind her. Trey said, “Ma’am, if you try it on, we can give you a man’s option.” Mom turned, saw them, laughed, and punched Trey in the shoulder.

Then she told Jack to control his son, and everyone laughed, including the saleswoman. Trey pointed to a mannequin and said, “Hey, Dad, Mom would look good in that,” and Jack replied, “Oh, yeah, she would.” Mom told them to leave, saying she would meet them at the suite. Trey said, “We should come back and get what you like,” and Jack agreed. They left Mom and the saleswoman laughing and returned to Jack’s suite.

Mom arrived thirty minutes later, saying, ‘You two embarrassed me.’ Jack told Kay all they did was give their opinion, and Trey asked if she got the one they liked. Mom laughed and said, ‘None of your business,’ then went to the bedroom. Trey told Jack he was leaving so the lovebirds could work out their problems, but he recommended a good spanking and left, with Jack laughing.

Trey returned to his suite and called home. Grandmother answered, and he asked how she and the dogs were doing. Grandmother laughed and said they were doing fine. Thor and Bella played in the snow and are now drying off in front of the fireplace. She asked how they were doing, and Trey told her about visiting the lingerie shop. Grandmother laughed and said she would give Kay a hard time about it. She said the snow showers were ending and should be over by the time you get home.

They said goodbye, and then David, his Callaway rep, called and said he received the sponsorship agreement. He also thanked Trey for wearing their polo shirt and hat while golfing on Friday. The photos of him on the 18th green at Desert Pines Golf Club are circulating on social media, entertainment channels, and sports stations. David said he would arrange for him to be fitted for their golf gear and then said goodbye.

Trey ordered room service for dinner, then took a shower and lounged in a robe watching TV. When room service arrived, he ate dinner and lay down for a nap. The phone rang, waking him up, and it was an invitation to a private game. Trey dressed, wore his disguise, and went to the game. Two Saudi businessmen were there speaking Arabic and didn’t mind losing money, so Trey took it and cashed out at 2 a.m. He tipped the dealer $2000, returned to his suite, and crashed.

Sunday morning, Trey woke up late, ordered room service, completed his forms, showered, and dressed. While having breakfast, Jack called and said there was a change in plans. A storm front was approaching, and we needed to leave soon, so pack up, and we’ll pick you up when we’re ready. Fifteen minutes later, they were on their way to the airport. Jack returned the rental car while Trey, Mom, and the pilot loaded the luggage onto the plane. When Jack returned, they took off and saw dark clouds and lightning to the west.

We arrived in North Dakota after 11 a.m. and were home by noon. Grandmother greeted us with hugs and kisses on the cheek. Thor and Bella welcomed me, then greeted Mom by sniffing her crotch and butt. While she was complaining, Trey introduced Jack to Thor and Bella. They sniffed him, then Jack bent down and scratched their chests. Thor and Bella kissed Jack on the cheek, which caused another round of complaining from Mom, and we laughed. Grandmother had brunch ready, so we sat and ate.

Mom told Grandmother about their trip and the incident in the lingerie shop. She complained that we entered the shop and pointed out the lingerie they liked. Grandmother said there’s nothing wrong with that. Jack said we even offered to judge what looked best on Kay, but she declined and kicked us out of the store. Trey said there was a French maid outfit, and Jack said he forgot that. It had a cute hat with a matching duster, and everyone laughed.

After lunch, Jack and Mom left for their condo. Trey hid the dummies in the house and gave the search command. He led the search the first time, and Thor and Bella followed him. When they found the dummies, Trey ordered them to attack. He hid the dummies again and gave the search command. Thor and Bella took off and found the dummies. Trey gave the release command and gave them treats. Then, Trey had Grandmother undergo the same process with Thor and Bella. The dogs enjoyed the game and getting treats.

After we finished training the dogs, it was dinnertime. Grandmother started cooking, and I took the dogs outside to introduce them to Blackie. They checked each other out and got along well. Trey gave Blackie an apple and said we’d go for a ride in the morning. They returned to the house, and dinner was ready, so they sat down and ate. When they finished, Trey and Grandmother watched TV for an hour, then said goodnight and went to bed.

The next two weeks before Thanksgiving were busy. Grandmother and Trey interviewed the maid/cook candidates by phone. They selected six finalists and then interviewed them at the ranch. Maria was chosen, and Thor and Bella agreed she was the best. Mom didn’t like that we were getting help, but there was nothing to do about it. I finished the cave work and moved everything into my secret room from the garage attic. The shelving hid the hidden door, and I installed a solid steel door at the cave’s entrance. He also managed to get the safe inside the secret room.

Trey’s ranch also saw some activity. He visited and heard shouting beyond the hidden barn/hangar. Trey saw two middle-aged hunters starting to dress a deer in the woods. They had killed it with compound bows and arrows. Trey knocked them unconscious and read their minds. He applied pressure to a point to put them into a deep sleep, then placed them in his truck bed and drove them to their pickup truck. Trey then drove them to the interstate with the deer they had killed.

Then he pulled their pants off, placed the deer between them, and told them it’s better to love it than kill it. He used one of their phones to call 911. Disguising his voice, he reported two men at mile marker #172 sodomizing an animal in a pickup truck bed. He left the phone active and disposed of it, jogging back to his ranch. He kept their bows, arrows, and gear and stored them in the pole barn.

His plane arrived, and Trey was surprised by the Beechcraft Baron’s condition. It looked almost new, equipped with advanced avionics and extended-range fuel tanks. He had the plane winterized and parked in his hangar. Work at Bowman Pharmaceuticals remained unchanged, and he got a booster shot from Cheryl. He also visited Miguel Sanchez’s house, emptied the safe, and trashed the place. If someone checked, he wanted to make it look like Miguel had left in a rush. Thor and Bella are now fully trained guard dogs and only take commands from Grandmother and him. He forgot he hacked into the FBI and Homeland Security while at Miguel’s house. Using his computer, Trey planted his “First Alert” worm into their mainframe computers and programmed a back door for future use.

The Monday before Thanksgiving, Trey woke up early and did his forms. Then he went to the dojo, did his martial arts workout, showered, dressed, and went to the stables. He saddled Blackie, and they went for their ride. Returning to the stables, Trey cared for Blackie and went to his room. He checked his anonymous cloud account, and his name came up two times from the FBI and five times from Homeland Security. Trey dug deeper, and it concerned a security clearance request from the Knight Group. He shut off the computer and went to the kitchen.

Maria and Grandmother were eating breakfast, so he joined them. Grandmother said Jack and Kay were coming Wednesday night and staying through the weekend. Trey looked at Thor and Bella and said, “Your Bunky is coming for four nights.” They barked, and everyone laughed. Grandmother said she and Maria are shopping this morning for Thanksgiving and the weekend. We’ll get the best selection and avoid the crowd by shopping today.
