Chapter 13: Third Concubine
“Lord Olaf, I am forced to discuss a personal matter with you,” Baron Cedric Olson of Thunder Valley said as they settled in the lounge after dinner.
“Do you want privacy?” Baron Marcus asked.
“Actually, for my own peace of mind, I would not mind having the two of you sit in on this,” Baron Cedric replied. “I’m about to lose my youngest daughter.” The four young ladies were in the lounge as well, siting apart from the four men. The three older barons seemed to like flirting and chatting with both Alice and Ruth, and Ruth was quick to respond to their flirting even if she never took it further than just blushing and fluttering her eyelashes back at them. With Cedric mentioning his daughter, Mona stood and came over to sit down next to Olaf on the couch he was sitting on.
“From the look on her face, I suspect you’ve lost her already,” Baron Dolf commented as he watched Mona.
“She said she already talked with you,” Baron Cedric said to Olaf. “She also mentioned some stuff which I am not sure I understand. She told me she wants to be your concubine, and that she wants to go to a regular school, and then to university?”
“I guess that is partly my fault,” Olaf said. “I already have two concubines, my age or younger. Both want to be with me but they also like the idea of studying further. As a result, we came to an agreement that, while they are officially my concubines, we have not consummated our marriages yet. This is to prevent the girls from getting pregnant before they finish their studies.”
“I hate to spoil your fun and expectations but until you consummate the marriage, they are nothing more than your wards,” Baron Dolf said. “Any of them can at any time decide to abandon you for another man, as long as they are still virgins.”
“I am aware of that, and I am fine with it,” Olaf said. “I will eventually be handed responsibility for the next duchess at which time I will expect her to bear me an heir, but personally I think my two current concubines or wards, are too young to be good mothers. If Lady Mona convinces both me and you that she wants to join my household, she will stay my ward, and a virgin, until she is done with her studies.”
“That might be a very good deal,” Baron Marcus said. “If he consummates the marriage, he is stuck with her, and she becomes the concubine of the next duke. If he doesn’t consummate the marriage, she can always get married off to somebody else, with her honor intact.”
“Not going to happen,” Mona said softly but with determination. “I found the one I want, and I will fight to keep him.”
“You are quite determined, and we barely know each other,” Olaf said.
“I know myself, My Lord,” she said as she looked him in the eyes. “You might still need to grow and mature some, but you are ready for me and I’m more than ready for you.”
Olaf was not sure how to react. He’d gotten to like the feisty girl in the short time since meeting her. Now he was facing her father, a baron, about her future. Not knowing what to say, he looked at the baron and shrugged. The baron smirked and shrugged back.
“Olaf Ostrander, Viscount Vasa, do you accept responsibility for this woman, my youngest daughter, Mona Olson?” Baron Cedric asked out loud.
“I guess I do,” Olaf responded.
“Then I appoint you as her guardian and protector, until such time as you either take her as your lawful concubine or return her unharmed.” Baron Cedric said gravely.
“I am witness,” Baron Dolf and Baron Marcus said at the same time. Mona didn’t say anything, but her smile got bigger as she scooted closer to Olaf and wrapped her arms around his upper arm.
The next morning Alec came to fetch Olaf and Alice for their early morning run. Ruth and Mona didn’t even bother to show their faces. The militia troopers were behaving much friendlier towards Olaf than the day before as they gently bantered among themselves while teasing Olaf and Alice. The senior members of the militia had no problems flirting with Alice, knowing that she was not an officer and also not Olaf’s woman.
“You can shower with him if you want,” Olaf heard a soft female voice just outside the open bathroom door. He had just entered the shower after their run and was alone since it looked as if Alice would not join him.
“Do his other concubines shower with him?” another softer female voice asked.
“I’m not sure if they do or not,” Olaf recognized Alice’s voice. “Ruth and I sometimes join him, for fun, but it never gets to the point of taking things too far; he is too much of a gentleman to assume a girl wants more just because she happens to be nude in his presence.” There were some more soft giggles and then Alice stepped nude into the shower with him. She winked at him before she turned him around and started washing his back.
The next moment Mona shyly stepped into the shower, as nude as Alice was. She was quite shy but then she gave him a challenging look. When he didn’t say anything, her eyes dropped to his erection. She gasped softly and stood frozen, causing Alice to giggle as she gave Olaf’s butt a playful pinch.
Her body reminded him of how Wilda or Ruth looked, slender and slim with nearly no boobs but a dark patch of soft straight pubic hair. She was also less willowy than Alice or Vanessa.
“I would suggest you behave very gently towards your newest concubine, Lord Olaf,” Ruth said as she appeared just outside the shower stall. She was still in her sleepwear not planning on joining them.
“Lady Mona, you can explore that part, if your husband allows you to,” Alice said as she leaned passed Olaf and pointed at his erection. “Don’t be shy and there is no need to be too gentle with it; it is apparently quite tough. Just be careful with his balls. They are the important parts and quite sensitive.”
Olaf only washed and stroked Mona’s stiff nipples and back as well as her bubble-butt while staying away from her groin. She started slowly but soon explored his genitals under guidance from Alice and Ruth. Mona seemed to become even more daring once Alice and Ruth admitted that they have showered with Olaf in the past but were both still virgins.
“You will now have to shower with Lady Vanessa as well as Lady Aster, since you showered with Lady Mona,” Ruth told him as the three girls dried him in a team effort after the shower.
There was a new face at the breakfast table. Besides the three barons and Olaf, Mona and Larita, the newcomer was a young man in the officer’s uniform of the Ceres Militia. He looked vaguely familiar. Then Lady Larita introduced him as her second brother, Romar, second son of Baron Victor.
“We ran together a few times, on the beach north of the palace, My Lord,” Romar explained. “I was just one of the officers in the group, but we all knew who you are.”
“We recalled him after hearing your initial report, Lord Vasa,” Baron Cedric added. “We thought it be best to have all Victor’s offspring here when we decide on the path forward.”
“I have not seen Gent since yesterday morning,” Olaf commented to Larita. Romar and Larita looked embarrassed as they glanced at each other.
“I’m afraid he has left, My Lord,” she said softly. “He never slept in his suite last night and some of his personal belongings are gone from his suite.”
“That is rather unusual, given the circumstances,” Baron Dolf commented.
“Since we are busy conducting a formal investigation into supposed irregularities in how Zephyr County has been managed over the past six months, I would have liked to question him in detail,” Baron Cedric said.
“Let’s discuss this in Victor’s office,” Baron Marcus suggested.
After the slightly stressed breakfast, the three barons invited Romar and Larita into their father’s office. The three barons clearly indicated that Olaf should take charge of the meeting. Baron Victor’s personal assistant, a small bald man who looked scared of his own shadow, was sent to make a final formal request of Baron Victor to attend the meeting. The little man was back shortly, looking even paler than usual. He had an older man with him and introduced the older man as the baron’s physician.
“No response from Baron Victor My Lord,” The personal assistant said as he bowed to Olaf.
“In my professional opinion, it seems that the baron is in a sepsis-induced coma, possibly caused by a lack of blood flow to some of his internal organs,” The doctor said.
“No way of treating him?” Baron Cedric asked the doctor.
“We already tried very strong antibiotics, with no result, My Lord,” The doctor said. “His extreme obesity is resulting in his circulating system being compromised. We will need to do a full autopsy just to figure out which organ caused the sepsis.”
“I guess we have to make a decision, and you are the senior here, My Lord,” Baron Cedric said to Olaf. The other two barons nodded in agreement.
“In that case, I hereby appoint Romar Lassen as the steward of Zephyr County,” Olaf said. “Lieutenant Lassen, you will maintain your rank while being on detached duty from the Ceres Militia, with full pay, until such time as Baron Victor’s medallion goes dormant, at which time you will claim that medallion as your own. Where is the medallion at the moment?” he asked. Larita stood and opened a drawer in the desk behind where they sat. To Olaf’s surprise the medallion was inactive, dormant, already.
“I guess they go dormant if they are not on the person of their owner for a certain time,” Baron Cedric commented.
“I also guess that Gent is the official heir as far as this medallion is concerned,” Olaf said. He was not totally sure how to proceed so he pulled out his own medallion and brought the two together. Then he handed the baron’s medallion to Romar. Romar looked confused until he stroked over the back of the medallion. His hand jerked and he looked confused as he examined his thumb. Then his eyes grew even bigger as the medallion became active.
“You just activated the medallion with Romar as the new baron,” Baron Dolf commented. “I didn’t know the heir to the duke could do that.”
“Unusual but if Victor has left his medallion alone for so long then it is understandable,” Baron Marcus added.
“The emperor explained some aspects of these medallions to me,” Olaf said before standing and facing Romar. “Lord Romar, you will still assume the duties of steward of Zephyr County until such a time as the physicians declare your sire to be legally deceased, at which time you will assume the title as Baron of Zephyr,” He formally announced.
“What if Gent challenges this?” Romar asked as he also stood.
“He can challenge it, in front of the full council of barons, under the leadership of Viscount Asgaard,” Olaf said. “Viscount Asgaard will then make a recommendation to the duke of Ceres. Only the duke can reverse what I just did here. If Gent was here, I would have had to make him the new baron, but I still would have made you the steward until Gent has proven his ability to run the county properly.”
“A good decision My Lord,” Baron Cedric said as all three barons stood and bowed to Olaf. Then the three barons took turns shaking hands with Romar. Larita had stayed seated, but her eyes were huge as she looked between Olaf and her brother.
“My work here is done,” Olaf said. “I will return to New Oslo today still. Lady Larita, I want to thank you for your hospitality, and the graciousness of your actions in trying to rectify the wrongs committed here. If you ever need a personal favor, please contact me.” She blushed as she stood and curtsied to him.
Mona turned out to be rather touchy-feely since she used every opportunity to touch Olaf, or hold his hand, or sit on his lap. Even in the hovercraft back to the opposite coast, she would sit next to him and either hold his hand in her lap or clung to his arm.
They arrived at Mona’s previous home in the early morning hours and this time Mona led them to the same suites they used the last time, without the need to register for anything. Mona had called ahead so they had a late supper waiting for them.
Baron Cedric’s older daughter and his heir were expecting them and seemed aware of Mona’s new status since they made no comments when she kept hanging onto Olaf, or when she led him into the suite. She slept in another room with Ruth and Alice, because she didn’t trust herself not to seduce her new husband before she was fully ready, according to comments she made to Ruth and Alice.
Olaf was glad to see Ruth and Mona getting along, even better than Ruth and Alice got along. They took again, off ten hours later, headed east.
Eleven hours later Olaf introduced a very nervous Lady Mona to the duke and dowager duchess. Olaf felt slightly sympathetic towards Mona; she seemed unprepared to have the duke of the system fawn all over her. Needless to say, both Duchess Victoria and Lady Thelma turned out to be very protective of the young girl. They arrived a couple of hours after sunrise, with their body clocks thinking it was time for dinner but they were served breakfast.
“I have been thinking about your schooling,” Olaf said to Mona as they finished breakfast. “We are all halfway through the school year. I’m sure I can convince the school to admit you but to do it for only half a year seems a bit odd. What have you been doing in the past?” he asked Mona.
“I have, ah, had a private tutor,” she said.
“I think you should finish the current school year with the same tutor,” Duchess Victoria said “I will get Cedric to send your tutor here as quickly as possible. “Mona, do you have a personal servant or assistant, somebody of your age back home?”
“I had,” she said as she blushed. “She had to leave because she got too tangled up with one of the guards.”
“Tangled up with a guard?” Olaf asked in confusion.
“She was supposed to be my personal assistant and companion but then she and one of the guards got a liking in each other,” Mona explained. “I didn’t really mind; it was fun listening to her relating her naughty adventures with him, but then she got pregnant,” Mona looked cute as she blushed.
“How old is she?” Duchess Victoria asked.
“Fifteen, a year older than I am,” Mona replied.
