Chapter 23: Farewell to Friends
Historical Sex Story: Chapter 23: Farewell to Friends - Two English sisters are captured by Chinese pirates while on board a ship taking them home to England. They are transported in chains to the Lotus Garden where they are trained to be concubines. The owner of the Lotus Garden takes pleasure in testing the sexual skills of the Lotus Garden slaves, awarding a personal seal of approval in the form of a small tattoo. Despite Qíngfù Niáng’s pessimistic predictions of her father’s imminent death, life continues as normal for several months. My sessions with Jinü increase in frequency and length, particularly after I confirm that should Qíngfù Niáng be obliged to move away from the Lotus Garden, then I will come with her if I am discharged from the Lotus Garden. Ah-Lin seems confident in her relationship with Mìngfù Jing, although that could change at any time.
The business of the Lotus Garden soon reverted to normal after the disruptions of the war. Female slaves of varying ages arrive at regular intervals for training over a period of months. On completion of their training they are sold as servants into wealthy households, or they enter into a concubinage agreement with a suitable man or woman. Of those who were in the harem when Ah-Lin and I arrived, Zihan and Huiquin have left as concubines to wealthy men. Luli, Yina and Rou are now a ladies maids with new owners, while Genji has departed with Pangfua to Chiang Chen’s mansion. That’s in addition to the departure of the score of concubines, cooks, servants and others whom I barely came to know. A whole new group of trainee concubines and servants have arrived to replace them.
Huifen is still too young to enter into a concubinage agreement, and Mìngfù Jing is reluctant to sell her as a servant. Consequently Huifen is likely to remain in the Lotus Garden for some time to come. She’s put to work to earn her keep however, so her retention is far from an act of charity. Anhe has nearly finished her training as a concubine, so I expect that she will be leaving before long. She has adapted remarkably well to her new life, although I gather her previous life was grim. Like Ah-Lin and me, she has no family and her only wealth is what she has earned during her time in the Lotus Garden. Furen Nuying remains as one of Mìngfù Jing’s favourites, although I think her blood relationship to the Emperor is the reason she’s retained.
My own promotion as a daoshi has displaced Daoshi Bao who has been given her freedom and discharged from the Lotus Garden. Her long service in the Lotus Garden has earned her a peaceful retirement. At least, that’s what I convince myself has happened. Despite the opportunities the Lotus Garden provides for young orphans and unwanted girls, it has no room for anyone who doesn’t pull their full weight. Daoshi Bao was showing signs of her advancing age and her health was far from good. Qíngfù Niáng says Daoshi Bao has moved to a group home for elderly people, but she has no idea what the home is like.
Daoshi Shi continues to supervise the daily routines, while Daoshi Lim and I concentrate of training the new slaves. It seems strange to be teaching material that I was only taught myself not many months ago. Qíngfù Niáng is usually busy with Shuchang in the time consuming business of locating and acquiring new slaves, and arranging their onward sale after training. It’s a matter of pride ... and perhaps economics ... that only the most disobedient of Lotus Garden slaves are ever sent to a slave market for sale.
“News has arrived that my father has died,” says Qíngfù Niáng when I conclude my thrice weekly session with Jinü.
I notice she has delayed this conversation until we are both replete from our vigorous games. Telling me this before I stripped her naked and had Jinü service my needs would have undoubtedly put a dampener on our session. As it is, it’s difficulty to tell whether the hint of tears in Jinü’s eyes are from the whipping she’s endured, or sorrow at the death of her father.
“There’s likely to be a two or three week delay before the local chief justice determines who will inherit my father’s estate. After that we can expect rapid changes. Unless, of course, Mìngfù Jing is declared to be the inheritor of the House of the Silver Lotus.”
“How likely is that?” I ask.
“She’s my father’s only surviving child born to his legal wife. If she was a man, her claim would be very strong. But as a woman, her claim is much weaker. Besides, there will be uncles and cousins busy bribing the chief justice for a decision favourable to them. I suspect that’s why Chiang Chen recalled Pangfua to his house. Mìngfù Jing could effectively hold Pangfua hostage if she remained here.”
“How does this affect Ah-Lin and me?” I ask.
“You and I must sign the concubinage agreement we discussed,” says Qíngfù Niáng. “If I’m discharged from my role, then I lose the ability to authorise you to sign the concubinage agreement. You will become subject to the whims of whoever takes over my and Mìngfù Jing’s roles. The same will apply to Ah-Lin, but I don’t know what arrangements Mìngfù Jing has made as regards her.”
“Do you wish me to sign the agreement now?” I ask.
“I must arrange for Mìngfù Jing to be present to witness our signatures. Concubinage agreements for Lotus Garden slaves need her written approval. She’s away for the next couple of days, so we must wait.”
I return to the harem to relay the news to Ah-Lin and Huifen. They are the only two I feel close enough to share this information. My role as a daoshi makes many of the newcomers treat me with caution, even though I’m a slave like them.
“How recently did he die?” asks Huifen, triggering some unwelcome thoughts through my mind.
“Qíngfù Niáng didn’t say, but I presume within the last few days. Why?”
