Chapter 5: Glamor System

Science Fiction Sex Story: Chapter 5: Glamor System - The final book in the Imperial Dilemma trilogy. There is another story, mentioned in this book. Dysfunctional Imperials is not a sequel, but also not quite a stand-alone story.

It was evening when the SS Empress Olivia undocked from the asteroid and headed for the Glamor jump gate. As Olivia started her acceleration, the navy frigate summoned by Jason, also undocked. Jason contacted the frigate captain and confirmed the outcome of the court case, after Lady Val handed the captain the documentation of the case and the sentencing.

Jason knew that the frigate would first build enough velocity in the proper direction before spacing Dixon, to ensure that his body would eventually fall into the sun. In fact, the frigate would slow down in relation to its current orbital velocity, which means that Dixon’s body would slowly spiral inwards around the sun. It might take years if not decades but if the frigate’s calculations are correct, Dixon would eventually burn up near the sun.

The trip to the jump gate took two weeks. After the regular challenge from the gate keeping frigate, and the response that the SS Empress Olivia was on Imperial Council business, they slipped through the gate to an empty system three light years from Pleiades Prime.

“Why is there a jump gate in an empty system?” eleven-year-old Grace Bright asked.

“Not sure,” Ron replied. “Maybe Mister Gray will know.” Grace was not satisfied with her father’s response and gave Jason a questioning look. Jason was still her hero and a duke, and dukes knew things.

“I think it is because the jump gates had to be placed by moving them with a ship,” Jason responded. “I guess the people who first started placing jump gates loaded them into a ship with no crew, aimed the ship at a nearby star, and set maximum acceleration. Only when the ship arrived at its destination, decades later, did they discover the star had no planets.”

“What did they do then?” Grace asked.

“They most likely took a new pair of jump gates to the new system, placed one on at a stable location in the empty system and sent the other one on in the empty ship towards the next star.” Jason answered. “Each jump gate is a short cut to somewhere else. There’s no need to start from the beginning if the second gate ends up in a system with no planets.”

“I guess that is how they found Glamor,” Megan said. “What do they do on Glamor?”

“Actually, neither,” Jason said. “According to the history texts, they first ignored the system since there were only two planets in the system and both were uninhabitable. The one is an ice planet and the other, named Glamor after the star, has an atmosphere that we cannot breathe. Nothing except some sort of algae and moss grows there.”

“So why are we going there?” Megan asked. She first claimed all of Jason’s lap but then she moved over so she was sitting only on one leg, inviting Grace to claim the other leg.

“Crystals,” Jason said. “All the stuff that we take for granted, electrical power, hovercraft, jump gates, communication crystals, and other stuff, are possible because of these mysterious crystals. They first discovered some of the crystals inside an asteroid in the Pleiades Prime system. Then they found another similar asteroid orbiting the only planet in the Arcadia system. That led them to discover large deposits of the crystals on the planet itself. When they discovered that Arcadia and Glamor had a similar type of poisonous atmosphere, they investigated Glamor and found more crystals. So, we go there because there are imperial houses on Glamor, families who mine the crystals for the empire.”

“Who gave the system such a weird name?” Grace asked. “It is glimmering?”

“No, the person who was allowed to name the system was called Pierre Glamor,” Jason replied with a laugh. “I think his ancestors were French.”

“What is French?” Geraldine asked as she scrunched up her face.

“That you have to ask Mister Gray,” Jason said with a smile and a shrug.

The trip through the empty system took a month because the two jump gates were quite far apart even with them being in the same orbit around the star. Since that system only had the two jump gates, the next gate-keeping frigate was not even in that system but on the other side of the second set of jump gates. Once through the second gate, it only took a few days before they approached the space station orbiting the planet.

“Why are the frigates so nosy?” Grace asked when the captain of the frigate requested a visual confirmation of Jason being on the Olivia.

“This system, as well as the Arcadia system are closed systems,” Jason explained as he shifted Erin into a more comfortable position on his lap. With her taking up his whole lap, Megan and Grace sat on either side of him, tight against him. “That means nobody can settle there unless they are given permission by the emperor. The emperor only allowed noblemen with wands to take control of the mining operations on Arcadia and on Glamor. No tourists, and no settlers.”

“What are we?” Erin asked. “I mean, daddy gave you a piece of land here on Glamor, as part of my dowry. Would that not make us citizens of Glamor?”

“I honestly don’t know,” Jason said. “Nina, can you answer that question since you were born and grew up here?”

“Having a stretch of land here makes you more like one of the owners of the planet, Your Grace, but only in name,” Nina responded. “I know past emperors awarded dukes or viscounts with worthless pieces of land which they could not use or sell, as reward for some service to the empire. Even if you legally own the land, you cannot occupy it unless there are some kind of crystal deposits on it. Nothing will grow there, and there is nothing to do other than mine crystals.”

The planet looked like a regular planet with an atmosphere and weather systems when seen from space. Once they were closer Jason realized that the planet consisted mostly of oceans, normal green/blue oceans covered in clouds and a few small cyclone-style storms. The one and only landmass was a small continent of about two thousand kilometers across in the southern hemisphere stretching from just south of the equator to about halfway between the pole and the equator.

The Glamor space station was similar in construction to the Grendel station, with only one ring. Being a closed system, there was little ship traffic. Jason invited himself to the bridge and watched as they approached the station. The view was quite spectacular since Olivia was approaching along the axis of the wheel so they had a great view of the wheel as it slowly drifted closer.

Empress Olivia, say your call-sign again and state your business and how long you plan to stay.” a voice said over the bridge intercom. “Be advised that this is a closed and restricted planet, no visitors allowed.”

“You did that on purpose,” Commander Wilson said to the communications officer. Both had smirks on their faces. “It is not often that we get to use your call-sign, Your Grace,” the captain explained. “He garbled the call-sign on purpose.”

“I say again,” The communications officer said as he suppressed his smirk. “This is SS Empress Olivia, call-sign ‘Imperial Two’, on Imperial Council business. We are not traders, and we will leave when our primary is ready to leave.” His announcement was met by silence.

Jason was surrounded by all his BPs, all his aides, and a squad of marines when the airlock opened. They were facing another squad of marines with a marine major and a female lieutenant behind them. The major did a double take as the station marines moved aside to form two lines against the sides of the access tunnel. Then Lisa, in uniform, stepped up to the Major. The two nodded to each other as Ron and Steve moved forward as they examined the access tube.

“Your Grace, this is Major Alex Ronin, military commander of all imperial marine forces in the Glamor system.” Lisa announced formally after returning to Jason. Ronin and all his marines saluted as Jason nodded his head. “Jason Taurus, Duke of Saturn, and Special Imperial Envoy,” Lisa introduced him in turn.

“Your Grace, we were not expecting you,” Major Ronin said. “I’m afraid we don’t have suitable accommodation for you on the station.”

“In that case, how about I invite you and your aide to the Empress Olivia,” Jason said. “My party will be much more comfortable on the ship anyway.”

“Normally accommodation onboard freighters are not that comfortable, Your Grace,” Ronin said as he and his aide made their way towards the first habitat. Since Lisa and the lieutenant were busy catching up with news about each other, Jason assumed they knew each other.

Jason didn’t say anything as he led the way into the glass elevator. Major Ronin and the lieutenant both gasped in surprise at seeing the interior of the habitat.

“While I’m here on imperial council business, my business is not really a secret,” Jason said. He waved Nina closer, and only realized she was trying to keep a low profile when she hesitated before stepping forward to join Jason and Erin.

“Lady LaNina!” Major Ronin exclaimed as he bowed to her. “At last, we can stop being concerned. You turned out to be a slippery one, my lady.”

“I suddenly feel very much wanted,” Nina commented.

“Nina is part of the reason for my visit,” Jason said. “The head of House Scorpius is the main reason, or rather the absence of Ranul Scorpius.”

“He made a lot of enemies before he left,” Ronin said. “The Glamor ruling council was not sure how to handle an obviously rogue nobleman. Scorpius first tried to take over the council, by trying to eliminate those who opposed him by challenging them to duels. They obviously declined to fight him.”

“Nina mentioned one possible reason for his breakdown could be the change in the qualities of the black crystals being mined by House Scorpius,” Jason said as he glanced at her for confirmation.

“That fact has been kept secret, Your Grace,” Ronin said in a low voice. “The Glamor council is concerned that if news of the changes in black crystal becomes known, it will trigger all sorts of problems in the empire. They are concerned that this might just be the start of a cluster-wide issue that could lead to a shortage of power crystals.”

“I guess I need to make an appointment to address the council,” Jason said. “I actually came to figure out what to do about House Scorpius, now that Ranul eliminated himself.”

“Would you require the council members to meet with you up here, Your Grace?” Ronin asked.

“This planet doesn’t have an elevator,” Jason said. “It would be easier and cheaper for me to fly down than to disrupt them by requiring them to fly here,” Jason’s response surprised Ronin a bit.

“Have you ever been here or to Arcadia, Your Grace?” Ronin asked.

“Never been to Arcadia and this is obviously my first time here,” Jason said. “Anything specific I should be aware of?” He asked.

“Well, the planet is a closed planet,” Ronin said, looking slightly uncomfortable. “That means no visitors on the surface. The immediate members of each house, offspring, wives, concubines, and in some cases siblings and their wives, concubines and offspring, are seen as permanent residents and are allowed on the surface with no limitation. The mine workers and servants are seen as temporary labor and are only allowed on the surface for limited-term employment. The real issue is that anybody who is not a permanent resident, goes down with no physical possessions and comes back up with no physical possessions. They only get paid up here after the completion of their employment contracts, with enough credits to retire on.”

“What do you mean they go down with no physical possessions?” Jason asked. He gave Nina a questioning look and got a shy shrug as she confirmed what Ronin just said.

“I mean, all servants leave their clothes, shoes, jewelry, everything, up here before they go aboard the shuttle to the surface,” Ronin said. “They are issued with clothing bearing the colors of the house they will be working for. I understand that the same rules and conditions apply on Arcadia.”

“So, the regular residents are excluded from this rule?” Jason asked. This time Ronin shrugged. “Any particular reason for requiring the servants to wear house colors?”

“The crystals are very special,” Nina explained. “They have strict processes for handling and transporting the mined crystals back to Secundus. I think the special clothing and the restrictions are more because the heads of the various houses are special and the servants are short term laborers, rather than the old excuse to stop servants from smuggling crystals off-planet. The restrictions are also a deterrent, to stop the planet from being overrun with servants eager to earn a huge number of credits.”

“Also, no marine is allowed down there,” Ronin said. “We would have to leave our uniforms behind and wear the colors of one of the houses but to do that we have to be sponsored by one of them and since we are marines, we cannot accept temporary employment by any other organization.”

“Daddy gave you his land on Glamor but I guess you don’t have a house or colors down there,” Erin said. “You should actually be a member of the Glamor council.”

“Her father is Duke James of Atlas, the chairman of the imperial council,” Jason explained.

“Do only the noble-born family get to wear their own clothes?” Carmen asked. “What about concubines?”

“Concubines are seen as family of the head of the house,” Ronin explained. “Other employees, like your personal assistant and even your BPs will be seen as servants and should wear the house colors. Under the circumstances I think none of the heads of houses on Glamor can do anything if you do go down and take your entire party with you,” Ronin said with a shrug.

“I guess I will have to wear these house colors then,” Val said.

“My apologies, lady,” Ronin said as he gave Val a look. “You look vaguely familiar.”

“Dame Valerie Kemp, Imperial Court Judge,” Jason introduced her. “She is normally based on Pleiades Prime station, but she decided to accompany me, to make sure I behave when I wear the hat of Special Imperial Envoy,” Ronin’s eyes got big.

“I attended a ball on Pleiades Prime station just before I was posted here,” Ronin explained. “I now remember seeing you at that ball.”

“Are there any public buildings on the surface?” Sylvia asked.

“Actually, no,” Nina said. “The atmosphere is poisonous to us. Each house on the surface has a dome over it. The navy has a neutral dome, a small one, next to the one and only space port on the surface. Navy personnel are allowed on the surface but only inside that dome. There are no hotels and such on the surface. I guess the only way to figure out in what condition House Scorpius is, will be to go down there and look.”

“I cannot give you any indication on the status or condition of House Scorpius or their dome, sorry,” Ronin said. “I understand each of the heads of houses has one body protector, partly to protect their primary but also to interfere if others stand a chance to be fried by their wands. Oh yes, each of the heads of houses have a wand, just like on Arcadia.”

“Where do new servants get their clothing from?” Jason asked.

“Most of the clothing dealers on the space station sell them,” Nina said. “They like to fleece the houses as much as they can. The colors and styles are all the same. I have to warn you, the house suits, as they are known, are rather flattering for females but quite awkward for males.”

“Ah, maybe you would consider only letting some of the females go down with these clothes,” Lisa said as she showed her tablet to Jason.

The image on the screen showed a male and a female wearing a kind of three-tone uniform consisting of very tight-fitting beige pants and green top with a maroon trim. Jason cringed as he noticed that the pants was so tight on the male model that his package was way too obvious and exposed. Both male and female tops were cut to display most of the chests of the two models. The male’s pants also only reached to just below the knees, like the female’s pants. The only time Jason ever saw pants on men like that was an image of male ballet dancers.

“They also have skirts for the women,” Nina added as she looked over Jason’s shoulder. “The skirts are so short that not many females like to wear them. By the way, there are no underwear to go with that.”

“That looks...,” Ron commented and then stayed quiet.

“Ron, if you agree, I suggest you and Corporal Matson stay here,” Jason said. “Unless you are willing to run around in that.”

“I also think we should take Private Delport as third BP,” Sam added. “You or Corporal Matson can temporary trade primaries with Delport while our lord is down there,” Ron didn’t respond for a while.

“Let me think about it,” he finally said.

“Lisa, can you get some of those outfits?” Jason asked. “Show those images around and only get one set for each one willing to wear it down there. My official concubines can go in their regular clothes. That includes Nina.”

“I would not mind going down, and wearing that skirt,” Gwendolyn said as she fluttered her eyelashes at Jason.

“You little slut,” Carmen said. “You are supposed to grow a baby, not seduce all the men down there.”

“You would love to go with my husband.” Erin whispered to Riley. At least she had a grin on her face as she said it. Delport looked quite eager.

“I do, My Lady, even if both of us know he will not touch me,” Riley said.

Lisa ordered a supply of ready-made Scorpius colors, as they referred to the household uniforms, from a local dealer on the space station. Nina told them that there were lockers where new servants locked all their personal stuff, including all their civilian clothes, but none of them bothered since they would be departing directly from the Empress Olivia.

“If any of you ladies really don’t like running around in those uniforms, you can stay dressed as you are,” Jason said when it looked as if the females were hesitant to change. “I can take the blame, I’m tough and ignorant enough.”

“Wearing this is nearly like purposefully exposing yourself while not being actually nude,” Val said as she came out of her suite, wearing the knee-length pants and top that barely covered her eye-catching boobs. The pants were so tight that her pussy lips were forming a classic camel-toe. It seemed it was only the case of who would be first because once she was dressed the others quickly followed her example.

“I can tell you now, if I end up controlling House Scorpius, I will redesign those colors,” Jason said to Nina and Lisa. All the females were showing a very prominent camel-toe and if they were not careful in how they move, their boobs were on display as well.

“The Scorpius colors are a bit more blatant than average,” Nina said. “Ranul would have liked to have all the female servants run around nude if he could get away with it.”

“What stopped him from doing that anyway?” Lisa asked as she rearranged Lin’s top so more of her small boobies were visible. Lin glared at Lisa, gave Jason a look, and caught him ogling her nipples, and then just shrugged.

“The servants have to display the colors of the house they work for,” Nina said. “I know some of the other houses do actually force their servants into more revealing colors, but they also seldom appear in public like that.”

Gloria Segar and Trudy Ramos were overly eager to fly Jason and his advanced party. At first it looked as if Lieutenant Commander Wilson, the captain of the Empress Olivia, was going to pull rank to fly the gig, until he saw what the Scorpius color servant uniforms for men looked like.

In the end, and since Jason decided on taking the gig down to the surface, he only took three BPs, after Ron and Steve both decided to stay on the ship and entrust Jason to the care of a smirking Riley Delport, three aides, Maggie, Val, Lin, and Nina.

The trip down to the navy landing strip was much smoother in the small and more streamlined shuttle than in the marine combat shuttle. Where Nina usually kept a neutral distance from Jason, while staying near him whenever she could, she now claimed the seat next to him.

“I think I like living on Secundus much more than here,” Nina commented as the small shuttle did a couple of banks to slow down and line up with the runway after the mildly bumpy entrance through the upper atmosphere. “I like the blue skies and green plants on Secundus more than that,” she said as she pointed to the horizon through the small port next to her. Jason leaned closer to her to peek out the port to see what she was talking about.

The sky had a pale lilac color. The visible land had a much darker, reddish-brown color. At first, he thought that they were in a desert but as the shuttle got closer to the ground, he realized the tree-like plants were brown or burnt-orange in color. The gray areas between the brown trees were not grass but moss.

“Which of your family members were still around when you ran off?” Jason asked.

“We were never a large household,” Nina said. “Ranul liked a minimalist lifestyle, so he only had the bare necessity in servants. Before he went mad, the family consisted of him and his wife, my father, his two concubines, as well as Aunt Lacy and Ada. My dad was Ranul’s younger brother and Aunt Lacy is the youngest sister. She always hid away in her room, even before her brother went crazy. She had a baby when she was barely thirteen. She didn’t want much to do with the kid, so Ada was raised by the servants. My mom died shortly after I was born so my father’s two concubines raised me. There is no evidence to prove or disprove it, but I still think my father was Ranul’s first victim. Dad went exploring out there and never came back. They found his vehicle and him nearby. He suffocated even if there was enough oxygen inside his vehicle. Two years later Ranul started showing real signs of becoming unhinged. He had three concubines but not at the same time. None of them stayed long before they ran off.”

“Were your dad’s concubines still around when you left?” Jason asked.

“Lorelei left a couple of weeks after Dad’s body was found,” Nina said. “Reese stayed around to look after me. I guess she was not really Ranul’s type, too skinny and with not much of a figure. I guess we would see if she stayed on after Ranul had left the planet. She and Aunt Lacy were friends.”

The lieutenant commander in charge of the navy facilities on the planet had obviously been warned about Jason’s arrival so an honor guard of navy personnel was drawn up to welcome him. The commander was overly eager to be of any assistance if it didn’t involve sending his people out of the navy dome, which was just large enough to cover a soccer field.

Surface transport on Glamor consisted of a monorail shuttle system like the rail shuttles on Secundus. Even the controls and scheduling were centrally controlled. This time it was Nina who took charge and scheduled a shuttle to the Scorpius dome.

Nina explained that House Scorpius was the second closest dome to the navy dome, with the navy dome being nearest to the equator on a high plateau and the four house domes in a half-circle around the navy dome. Due to the topography of the land, the house domes on Glamor were all connected to the navy dome via a series of Y-shaped rail lines, like a binary tree, with Virgo and Scorpius sharing one of the Y-shaped lines. Glamor had a much smaller population than Arcadia where there were around ten imperial houses and about ten thousand servants.

“It might be quicker to use the shuttle and fly directly to any of the other domes than to use the rail line, if we wear pressure suits,” Nina explained. “None of the houses has suitable docking ports so a regular hovercraft is out of the question.”

The six scantily clad females all sat towards the back of the rail shuttle while Nina, Lisa, and Carmen stayed with Jason. Other than giving them some background information about growing up on Glamor, Nina was much more interested in Lisa’s life as the daughter of a viscount, and her reasons for joining the marine corps as well as her life as a marine. Jason got the impression that, while she claimed to be eager to go back, and take her rightful place in House Scorpius, she seemed nervous.

They set off on an alien planet. There was a lot to see outside the shuttle, all of it familiar and foreign at the same time. What would be green plants elsewhere, were a reddish-brown color. Dead foliage had a gray-black color, according to Nina. The tree-like plants were not really trees, but a kind of fungus that grew about two meters tall. The grass was some kind of moss.

Water on Glamor was still water, turning to snow or ice in winter. Regular plants grew just fine in the Glamor soil, provided they got proper lighting and regular clean air. They withered and died quickly outside the domes. Sun lamps were added inside the domes to augment the light since the weird atmosphere blocked some frequencies of sunlight.

“Your Grace, you have an urgent message from Anders Delphinus and George Leo, the heads of the two senior houses here,” Lisa said as she held Jason’s tablet to him. They were halfway to the first junction point where the monorail would split up from its main trunk originating at the navy dome. The message on the tablet read ‘Urgent, contact us via video immediately’. It was signed by both Anders and Leo. “Not exactly the proper way to address a duke,” Lisa commented.

“I guess video it is,” Jason said. His tablet was obviously connected to the local planetary network, and the message included a link.

“Are you the imperial envoy?” a man in his late thirties asked when the connection got established.

“Yes, I am, who are you?” Jason asked.

“I’m the head of the senior house on Glamor, which is a closed system,” Anders responded with a frown.

“My word, he looks barely older than young Wesley,” another voice said off-camera. Then an even older male moved into the range of the camera. “I’m George Leo. Who are we addressing?” The older man asked. That was when Lisa nudged the tablet, so she was also in range of the camera.

“Lord Anders, Lord George, you are addressing Jason Taurus, Duke of Saturn, and member of the Imperial Council,” Lisa said as she leaned closer so they could see her. “I am Major Lisa Gomes, Imperial Marine aide to Duke Jason.”

“That navy idiot should have told you, military personnel are not allowed on the surface,” Anders said.

“Well, guess what,” Jason said. “I decided to bring two of my concubines with me, and both of them happen to be imperial marine officers.”

“Lord Anders, Lord Leo,” Nina greeted the two over Jason’s shoulder. Both older males blinked in surprise. “I hate to be the bearer of bad news but both of you are seriously outranked by His Grace. Duke Jason also happens to have been given a tract of land here on Glamor, which makes him a landowner and thus entitled to be treated as a potential resident. He is following the Glamor rules since his regular employees are all dressed in Scorpius colors, but since the two officers are his concubines, there is not much you can do.”

“Your Grace, this is highly inappropriate,” Anders said. “You should have asked us before you just took off on your own.”

“I guess he can do that if he is a landowner,” Leo said with a frown. “Eh, what land has been given to you?”

“My father-in-law, Duke James of Atlas gave me his property on Glamor, as dowry for his daughter,” Jason said.

“All of it?” Leo gasped in surprise. “We know about the Atlas region. That piece of land is huge but has also not been explored yet. For all we know it might be of no value. As it is, Scorpius lands seem to be mined out. The last few months before Ranul left, they only mined gray crystal, with no ability to do anything.”

“Your Grace, we still think it would be better if we meet before you just move in on House Scorpius,” Anders said. “I suggest you change your destination and meet us at the Virgo dome.”

“I can do that,” Jason said. “For the record, I’m not just moving into House Scorpius, I have Lady LaNina of Scorpius as my host. It is her home, after all.”

“She might be of House Scorpius but without the head of the house as her guardian she has no standing there either,” Anders insisted.

“I’m her guardian, with the approval of the emperor,” Jason said. “We will head to the Virgo dome. Kindly let the head of House Virgo know that we are on our way.”

“We will meet you there,” Anders said before he disconnected.

“These people live a bit isolated,” Val said. “They don’t seem to have the same respect for people with ranks higher than their own.”

“I think they all rely too much on their wands, and the power of the wands,” Nina said. “I think they are all in for a rude awakening once they meet Lord Jason. Just the fact that you are in possession of the Scorpius wand is going to shock them.” She added as she changed their destination.
