Chapter 4: Doctor ... where’s the doctor?
Daniel looked at the woman lying on the hospital bed carefully, as if trying to figure out if the surprise on her face was real or fake.
After a moment, he probably believed that she didn’t know Rick’s identity beforehand. Then he said coldly, “Your request.”
“Uh, what request?” Selena asked, confused by the sudden words.
“My brother wants to thank you for saving Rick, so he asked you to make a request!” Saul said with a smile like she had just won a prize.
Selena’s head spun, and she said carefully, “Actually, you don’t have to thank me. I saved Rick, yes, but he also saved me. If Rick hadn’t gone out to find help first, I would still be locked inside. So, it’s even.”
Even though she was lucky to save the little prince, she didn’t want to take credit. The richer the person, the more likely they are to think she’s lying or tricking them—especially the Lu family, one of the richest and most powerful families. Didn’t Daniel just look at her like he didn’t trust her?
It’s better to keep distance from them to avoid trouble.
Selena thought this answer was safe, but Daniel’s face stayed serious and scary. She felt frightened.
Had she said something wrong? Why did he look so terrifying?
“Brother, don’t look so scary,” Saul said, noticing Selena’s fear. “If you know it’s a favor, then it’s paying back, but if you don’t, it’s revenge!”
He looked at Selena and said, “My brother hates owing favors, so you should make a request! You’re welcome!”
People who force you to make a request?
Selena’s mouth twitched a little. “I’m not being polite. It’s really not necessary. I’m telling the truth. If you don’t believe me, you can check...”
“No need,” Daniel said shortly, sounding a little annoyed.
Saul added, “The bar warehouse has cameras. I checked. Rick ran in by himself. The bar manager admitted locking you in. So don’t worry, we don’t suspect you. You really saved Rick, so make a request!”
Back at it again!
In the end, Selena had no choice but to speak up under Daniel’s intense stare, “Okay ... will you give me money?”
Don’t rich people like paying with money?
With Daniel’s personality, she thought he’d prefer to solve problems with money.
If he didn’t want to give money, maybe he wanted something else.
Just as Selena was sure this was the best request, Daniel’s expression turned even darker.
Selena wanted to cry. Why couldn’t he just say what he meant? Could a few words kill him?
Saul scratched his nose and said, “My brother thinks giving money is insulting.”
Selena screamed silently, Fine! Then insult me!
The Lu family was too special, and she didn’t know what else to ask.
When the deadlock lasted too long, Daniel finally said, “Marry me.”
Selena froze, then suddenly coughed violently, nearly choking, “Cough, cough ... What did you say?”
After catching her breath, she looked at Saul anxiously, “Young Master, please translate!”
But Saul was also confused, “Brother, what do you mean? I can’t translate this one!”
Then, Selena smiled nervously and said, “Could it be ... because I saved your son, you want to give me your body?”
Daniel nodded slightly, thought a moment, then said, “You can say that.”
