I won’t show you the optional clauses in full just yet, but here was what what was at the top of the form:
Sign each clause you agree to be bound by using only your first name, deleting any words or sub-clauses you do not agree to. Any clauses signed in this document immediately become active, final and irrevocable. Do not sign if you do not agree to be bound in perpetuity to the undeleted contents of that clause. You may sign up to additional clauses or sub-clauses at a later date if you wish, by signing a new form which will be provided, on request, by Dr. Anne, at which point those additional clauses will also become binding in perpetuity:
My mouth went dry as I read through the optional clauses, and I glanced across at Abi. Her face had gone pale and her breathing was coming in short gasps.
“Fucking hell Abi!” I said. She turned to look at me, gulping as she did so.
