Chapter 13: Exploding Swords

The group continues the journey, and when a corridor leading downward starts from behind the door, they go back to see where that one unexplored corridor goes. They come to a room where there’s a big candle, an altar, and some equipment. When they go forward, from behind the altar jumps out a kobold who shouts to the group, “Kill, kill...”, first in its own language, and when Neeia lends it normal common language, it switches to that.

After this, the kobold bites itself on the hand and attacks Neeia. The kobold attacks Neeia really many times and gives her one really nasty-looking injury with its sword. Neeia and Kieron move into the fight and start hacking at the kobold. At some point, Ra also joins the group. Jaysek casts his spells. The kobold falls to the ground at some point, and when Kieron tries to hack it in the head, the kobold moves to hack Kieron. The kobold gets Kieron in poor condition, but then the kobold falls dead to the ground from Neeia’s strike, but the weapon continues fighting. The weapon moves to attack Neeia, who is on the ground because her leg has been smashed. Neeia says, “That’s a good sword,” and takes it from the air into her hand.

After this, Neeia gets angry and shouts, “I’ll kill everyone,” and attacks Kieron. Kieron blocks quite well, but some strikes do come through. Kieron and Ra try to strike at the weapon in Neeia’s hand, but they don’t seem to accomplish anything. Jaysek figures out that he can strike the sword with his special skill and manages to knock the sword out of Neeia’s hand, whereupon Neeia falls to the ground because her leg had been smashed earlier, and now that the sword is no longer in her hand, this affects her again. Neeia gets completely angry and shouts, “I’ll destroy that sword down to the last metal shred.”

The sword swings at Kieron and Ra, but both block and dodge quite well. Ra notices that there’s weaker material in that handle, so it’s better to strike at that. Kieron and Ra begin to hack at the handle. Neeia tries to shoot with lightning bolts, and when the sword comes close, she then starts hacking at the handle again. Kieron gets a clear dent in one link of the handle, at least in her own opinion. Kieron falls unconsciously to the ground while the sword moves to attack Neeia and breaks her left hand because she’s blocking with that hand, so now blocking is difficult. Neeia switches the sword to her other hand so she can block.
