Chapter 54: Vee

I was more anxious and eager than when I first came to L.A. to conquer the world.

It was time to take back the reins of my life.

I focused on fulfilling my pending advertising contracts and said no to some proposals that were still in the air. I announced that Raven Black was going to take a long break. I closed all her social media accounts, said goodbye to her and rediscovered my natural unruly hair.

After many years of chasing success and losing myself, I no longer felt any pain. I had been sleeping soundly all night without pills, and I liked my reflection in the mirror.

It was time to go home.

After all, that’s what living is all about: looking over a cliff, feeling the vertigo in the pit of your stomach, and taking the leap.

And once more, I was about to jump into the unknown.

We are the decisions we make. We are the risks we take, the promises we keep. I ... I finally knew who I was. I just had to act accordingly.

And I had one more promise to keep.
