Chapter 7: Bug Problems

The group talks with the one person found tied up in the tower. The man says that kobolds had attacked and there had been some green kobold with them who had insects and bugs around him.

Kieron translates between Ertak and Agnarr. Ertak gets annoyed and tries to explain something directly by gesturing, which Agnarr doesn’t properly understand. At the same moment, lightning strikes into the middle of the group, hitting the spot where Kieron stood before jumping away just before the lightning struck.

The lightning does damage to Ertak, but the others avoid the larger effects coming from the explosion. The group tries to find enemies, and after a moment, Kieron hears insect sounds from the north and deduces that the green kobold is there, so she shouts about it to the others and starts running in that direction. When she reaches the forest side, she sees something flying past her, and at the same time, Ertak, Agnarr, and Neiia notice that a net is descending upon them. Agnarr almost manages to jump away from under the net but gets a little caught. Neiia moves away with magic, but Ertak remains in the center of the net.

Kieron sees a really big scorpion in front of her that attacks her. Kieron also hears that one kobold has sneaked beside her, so she takes a step backward but falls because another kobold has sneaked behind her back. At the same moment, the scorpion grabs Kieron, and the kobolds hit her with their axes.

A swarm of bugs attacks Agnarr, but he sends them toward Kieron. Kieron notes that she’s in a somewhat weak situation, tired and on the ground in the scorpion’s grip, so she pulls out a magic potion bottle and turns herself into a tree. The kobolds that were on her look for a new enemy, one goes after Neiia and the other goes to help the green kobold near Agnarr. The scorpion still holds Kieron for a while before attacking Ertak.

Neiia tries to slow down the green kobold but doesn’t succeed, and that one tries to shoot Neiia with lightning, but Neiia dodges. Neiia continues her attempts and finally succeeds, even though the green kobold surprisingly grows thirty feet tall but slows down from it; however, it consumes quite a lot of Neiia’s magic energy.

The small kobolds run away when they are hit, but the big guy stays in the battle. It seems that the group can’t accomplish terribly much, but at some point, the green giant kobold decides to turn Neiia into a bush, making her a beautiful bush. Agnarr decides at this point to shift into full battle form and starts swinging his club at full force. At some point, the giant kobold starts to look worried and steps backward and drinks a magic potion. The enemy heals before their eyes. Agnarr changes his club to a spiked axe and starts rampaging with it at full force.

A little while after this, the green giant kobold flees. Ertak and Agnarr go after him. Agnarr hacks at the enemy from behind, and Ertak shoots it with light bolts, but they don’t seem to have much effect. About thirty seconds later, the kobold turns small, even smaller than it was at the beginning, and falls unconscious to the ground.
