Chapter 20
Raiden woke up on Tuesday morning and went to the garage gym. He did his martial arts workout and practiced his Stealth Walk and Strikes. Returning to his apartment, he showered and felt revitalized afterward. Then he dressed and drove to the airport’s private terminal. Entering the private terminal, Raiden saw a Gulfstream jet pull up outside, and he walked to it. The door opens, the stairs drop, and Dana invites him inside.
They went to a small conference table, and Dana asked why he had gone a day early. Raiden said that because of what the op instructions said about Miguel “Pit Bull” Ramerez always avoided capture. So he left a day early to see if someone leaked information. A man was at the safehouse, and six guards on the bluff were waiting for my arrival. Dana added that Ares tortured Miguel before his death and got the name of the traitor. She asked for the name, but Ares said he’d take care of it himself. South America Section Chief Greg Busby gave himself away by saying OH SHIT out loud. Director Bowman called security, and they put Greg Busby in handcuffs and took him away.
The meeting ended, and Director Bowman and Dana returned to his office. He told Dana that Ares was exceptional, so take good care of him. Dana assured him she would, then said there was another issue. Then she told him about Ares’ alias, FBI Special Agent William Carlson, being invited to a White House State Dinner. Director Bowman asked how it happened, and Dana said they didn’t know. However, Ares believes it could result from meeting the President’s Chief of Staff at a charity event in DC. Ares said COS had heard of his work at the bomb site and commended him.
Director Bowman said they were in a tricky situation. If he doesn’t go, that could bring more attention to him. So, tell Ares to go but try to keep a low profile at the event, and their meeting ends. Professor Jackson said he would email Raiden an anti-virus and an encryption program to practice with, and he thanked the professor.
The programs arrived twenty minutes later, and he first looked at the encryption program. It was 128-bit, and somehow, he knew how to boost it to 500 bits. His fingers were flying across the keyboard, changing code. Raiden mumbled, wondering if the aliens assisted him, and Ava, his AI, said yes, he was given advanced programming talents. Raiden had done enough today, shut off the laptop, ate dinner, and slept.
Wednesday morning, Raiden moved Miguel’s files to the hidden room in the basement, then put some of the cash from the trash bags in the safe.
