I spent the autumn and winter bonding with Alice and Cassidy. We made plans for parenting and childcare, despite our resources, nothing prepared me for when Alice gave birth to Quinn Harper Skye in March of the following year. Cassidy’s baby proved more stubborn, just like her parents.
At the time, it felt unbelievable being the futa-mom of two. But now, I’m eternally grateful it happened this way. Once my children were ready for daycare, I transferred to Moringa University, the first college designed primarily for futanari. The promising call for a haven to learn with my futa sisters quickly transformed into a nightmare, and to call my year at Moringa harrowing is an understatement. I only made it through one semester; And in those couple of months, I had been bullied, stabbed, and steralized. My classmates friends would go on to expose unspeakable and conspiracies and horrors. I’m forever grateful for their sacrifice.
When I returned to Canada, I did two very important things. First, I got a job. I was Sunny Skye, a Sales Representative for Cloudy Skye Confectioneries. Sure, it wasn’t starting from the bottom by working for my family’s company. But just as I wasn’t really ready to get married, I wasn’t equipped to manage a company. Second (and this was much more important), I let Cassidy go. I ended my cruel relationship with my best friend. We stayed ‘married’ for 11 years, until I turned 30, when I received my inheritance and gave her half. But Alice notwithstanding, Cassidy was the most amazing co-parent; Having her in my life was a blessing.
Even after paying Cass out, I held a majority of shares in the company. The more I thought about it, the more sense Sunny’s Marriage Clause made. In the end, it may have prevented more mistakes than it caused. And just like that, I found myself here one day, a successful business owner in her mid-thirties. And most importantly, a Mom.
A mom...
“Mom...”
“MOM!?!”
I dazed off long enough to gain the ire of my daughter. Her lanky frame stood in the doorway, arms bundled around a satin red dress covered in plastic. Victoria Cathy Skye was the spitting image of her mother’s dark brown eyes and hair. Now and then, she’d smile or laugh, and I’d see a shimmer of young Sunny in her dimpled cheeks. If I told her how many times she melted my heart to this day, she’d die of embarrassment.
“MOM!!” Victoria finally grabbed my wrist and dragged me from the house. She didn’t let go until we approached her sparkling red sports car. “We’re going to be late.”
“It’s fine. Just pretend it’s homeroom at Pom Tree Academy.” I joked, finished my keys from my clutch, and passed them to my daughter with only a slight hesitation. “I think it’s okay if you drive.”
“Sweet.” Victoria sang as she snatched the keys. She dropped the dress over her shoulder as she seemed to remember something. “This works out. I’ll drive there, and you can drive back. I was thinking of having a glass of wine.”
“Oh?” I stepped back. Victoria’s audacity never ceased to amaze me. “Did the drinking age in Canada suddenly get lowered to 16? I must have missed that.”
“Mom,” My daughter huffed like the brat she portrayed. “How many times have I been a bridesmaid?”
“None,” I said, rolling my eyes.
“So.” She shrugged. “So I think that’s a good enough reason to expand on a ‘night of firsts’ theme.
“No,” I said.
“At least let me toast.” She reasoned.
“Fine. You can toast.” I agreed. “Run back in the house. I have a bottle of sparkling apple juice in the cellar for this occasion.”
Victoria gawked at me for a full second, disgusted. “Why aren’t you taking my blossoming adulthood seriously, Mom?”
“Being constantly disappointed in the most adult thing that will happen to you, honey.” I nodded. “Now get in. We can’t have a wedding with the sober Maid of Honor. Plus, we still have to pick up your sister.”
