Chapter 3: I Could Be a Hero
Jethro
The trial re-started at 3pm and by 3:15 I was a free man and standing on the courthouse steps being interviewed by a national news channel. The judge had ruled it was self-defense and had admonished the District Attorney for wasting the court’s time prosecuting a case that was clearly self-defense. He commented that the coach was a foot and a half taller than me and outweighed me by over 125 pounds. He called me a ‘hero’ for saving my adopted daughter from being raped. The press called me a hero also. I did not feel very heroic. I was sorry I had to kill the coach but at the time he did not give me much of a choice.
On the bright side, all that publicity increased my sales! Jenny and I are planning a father/daughter vacation this summer. She says I am her hero. I’ll take that!
Author: The idea for this story came while I binge-watched a popular TV series. Not from the story but from the theme song!
Also note that I did not use “Do you feel lucky, punk!” or “Make my day!” when describing the .44 magnum. I also left out my favorite Dirty Harry quote, “Who puts ketchup on a hot dog?!”
