Chapter 7: Valentines Date

Jake paced in his room, his nerves buzzing with excitement. He was going to surprise Sam on Valentine’s Day. Their first unofficial trek date had been a disaster for him. He was determined to make sure that nothing would go wrong this time.

Jake had spent days searching on the internet for the perfect location. He had finally found one: a cozy cabin on top of a hill. This place was built with privacy in mind. It had a wide fence to keep the wild animals away. It featured beautiful views and scenic trails leading to the adjacent mountain. For its isolated setting, it could be an ideal place for stargazing as well. Sam would surely love some time away from civilization.

Although Sam was not picky with food, he thought of treating her with something special. His bag held some fresh fruits, a slab of gourmet cheese, some crackers, and some fine chocolates. The food basket could not be complete without her cherished Pinot Noir.

A special date could not be complete without a personal touch. So, he handpicked some of her favorite wildflowers to make a bouquet for her.

Jake left nothing to chance and arrived at the spot early in the morning. He scattered rose petals along the path for a romantic welcome. Scented candles lined up all the rooms to ensure proper ambiance. He even added soft jazz music to fill the cozy interior. He finished all the work before dawn broke. With that, he was ready for the most intimate romantic surprise.

Sam loved the wildflowers and gave him a smoldering kiss. He was off to a good start. They reached the cabin in the late morning.

“Well, well, well,” Sam smirked as she took it all in. “Someone’s really going all out today.”

Jake smiled from ear to ear. His eyes sparkled, full of glee. “Only the best for my lady!”

They spent the day hiking through the gorgeous trails surrounding the cabin. It was a leisurely stroll on flat ground. The mountain air felt refreshing as they took in the beautiful scenery.

Jake couldn’t help sneaking glances at her. As if he was noticing her radiant beauty and captivating smile for the first time. He had never seen her so carefree before.

Sam blushed like a schoolgirl. She leaned closer to him and swatted his arm. “Stop it, you!” she giggled. “I’m not made of stone, you know.”

Jake chuckled, his voice husky. “Good,” he replied, “I wouldn’t want you to be.”

They headed back to the cabin when the sun started to set. Jake warmed up a full-course meal he had packed. He supplemented that with chocolate-dipped strawberries. He tried to pour the wine, but Sam caught his wrist. “Rules are rules,” she teased, flashing a sly glint in her eye. “Fine, fine,” he gave up his trick. Good thing he had carried an apple juice for backup.

“Is this real?” Sam sighed happily, leaning back against the plush cushions of the loveseat. She patted the spot beside her, inviting Jake to join her. They curled up together by the fireplace.

Jake nuzzled his face into her neck and whispered, “I aim to please.”

He took a piece of chocolate in his mouth and kissed Sam. She got the hint as they waged the war of tongues for that chocolate piece until it melted in their mouth. They continued making out in the glow of flickering flames.

“Hey,” he whispered, alluring with a playful grin. “I have something else for you.” Sam shot him a puzzled glance as she turned to look at him. “Oh? And what might that be?”

Jake sat up and pointed to the window dramatically. “The stars!” he announced. “It’s a perfect place for stargazing!”

Sam followed his gaze out at the window. The twinkling stars could be seen clearly against the inky black sky. She understood exactly what he meant.

“Brilliant,” she said, giving him a playful high-five.

They walked hand in hand into the darkness. The biting cold night air slapped against their exposed skin. Their laughter resounded through the night air. Jake was ready. He pointed at the comfortable blanket he had prepared earlier in the evening.

Sam giggled, plunged into the soft fabric, and spread her arms wide as if waiting for the world to give her a big hug. “The stars are even more beautiful from here,” she exclaimed, taking a deep breath while gazing up at the vast expanse above them.

Jake draped himself over the blanket beside her. He placed an arm over her shoulders and snuggled her. They lay there under open skies. There was no better way to end the amazing date than a spectacular celestial show.

“Perfect,” he whispered in her hair. “You and me and a billion stars.”

He reached for her dress in a suggestive move, whispering to her, “Oh, and no pesky clothes in the way.”

Jake shivered at the sparks crackling between them. He knew exactly what she meant. It was time to cross the last frontier. “Here?” he grinned wickedly. “Out here in the open?”

Sam shrugged at that. They knew they were miles away from prying eyes or any signs of civilization. Bambi and his woodland friends were going to be their only witnesses in the wilderness. “I don’t care,” she growled lustfully as she began grinding her hips into him. “I can’t wait for another second, I want you now.”

Jake groaned beneath her touch. He had seen Sam’s sensual and seductive side up close in the last few days. She had a way to make his blood run hotter than molten lava. “Well then,” he captured her lips in a deep kiss. “We better get started with fireworks.”
