Chapter 1

Joe Vickers (a.k.a. Gary Henley and Ted Warnicky) was a patient at the Harold Arthur Psychiatric Hospital, which was a mental institute for the criminally insane. He had been a patient there for a long time since he was shot down by police for a string of murders he committed while impersonating a police officer.

Vickers was wide awake in his bed in his room as a nurse came in to give him his medication. He had awoken almost five minutes before the nurse came in.

“Here you go, sir,” The nurse said. “Time for your morning medications.”

Vickers grabbed her by the neck. He strongly strangled her. He didn’t let go until he heard no sounds coming from her.

After dropping her to the floor, he removed her nurse clothes. He then removed his medical pajamas He put her nurse clothes on and after that, he put the medical pajamas on her. He placed her on his bed and covered her up.

He looked out into the hallway. He saw that it was clear and proceeded to walk down the hallway to make his way to an elevator.

The elevator stopped to let on some nurses as he covered his face so he wouldn’t be recognized.

As the nurses left the elevator on the ground floor, he mingled with the nurses who used their cards to swipe to be let out of the hospital.

He hid in the dark doorway as the nurses went to their cars. He then saw a truck with laundry bags on it. He decided to stowaway on it.

After the truck drove about twenty miles away, Vickers let himself out when the drivers stopped to get some coffee at a coffee shop.

Vickers walked slowly away undetected.

About forty miles away, a police officer was making his rounds around the area with his windows open. He then stopped when he felt he saw something move into the forestry on the road.

He stepped out of his car to investigate. He even called out to see if anyone was in the forest.

Five minutes later, Vickers grabbed the officer by the neck from behind to strangle him. He let go when the officer stopped making noises as a result of being choked.

Ten minutes later, Vickers emerged from the forest in the officer’s uniform. He headed for the officer patrol car. He got into the driver’s side, strapped in, shifted the car into drive and drove off.

He drove around the country roads for a long time afterwards. He did it to get a feel for driving a car again after being in the institution for a long time.
