There are two ways you can deal with getting a reputation. Firstly, you can try denying it which never really works or alternatively, you can live up to it, which is what I did.
I have to say in my defence some of what happened next was Kim’s fault as she would go on about how wonderful her boyfriend was, and how good sex was with him. Maybe I should have said ‘no’ a bit more but I didn’t. I was fast approaching 15 and putting out made me popular, and the more I put out the more popular I became ... and I liked the attention. I never really thought about the reputation or the risks, and if I am 100% honest I enjoyed sex. I just wished it lasted a bit longer.
I had been seeing Billy Fields, or Billy the Fish as he was better known, for about a week when he offered to walk me home across the school playing field. About halfway across he stopped and grabbed me around the waist and started snogging me. “I fancy you as well Billy, but this is only our third date.”
“Yeah, but everyone knows you are the Martini girl.”
I should explain that Martini was a drink of wine and herbs which was supposed to be sophisticated which, to be honest, I thought tasted pretty rank. I had necked a few in my time but let’s face it when you are 15 you drink what you can get. The reason he called me Martini was due to an advert at the time, where a line in the song went... “Any time, any place, anywhere ... that’s Martini.”
I guess I should have been insulted but in fact, I loved it. I had to admit I had been a bit of a tease with Billy as with most boys I put out on the second date. The furthest he got on our last date was sucking my nipples, mainly due to the fact that I was on my monthly period and things could have got messy, but also I wanted to try to ‘hold out’ a bit longer.
“OK then, do you have a johnny?”
I could see by the look on his face that the answer to that was no.
