Chapter 5: The Letter

Dear Daughter,

As I write this, my heart is full of emotion. Please know that your mother and I love you deeply and unconditionally. You are the greatest blessing in our lives, and everything we’ve done has been for your well-being.

Life has taken unexpected turns. Your mother and I married out of necessity, not love, and over time, our paths diverged. The happiest moment we shared was the day you were born. You brought light and purpose into our lives. For a time I thought that would be enough, that you would be enough to hold us together. I was wrong.

Your mother found love with someone else. He already has his own kids and he made it clear that he couldn’t accept another child. Last week, she made the difficult decision to leave both of us.

I’ve fallen in love with someone abroad, but she doesn’t wish to take on the responsibility of raising you. She thinks she is too young to be burdened with raising a child. She also wants me to cut all ties with my old life. After much soul-searching, I’ve decided to join her and start a new life. Though it pains me deeply, I know this is the right decision for both me and her.

Your uncle has graciously offered to welcome you into his home. He loves you and will provide the stability and care you deserve.

Please know this decision doesn’t diminish my love for you. You are strong, kind, and capable, and I will always be proud of you. Forgive me and your mother for our choices; they were made in the hope of finding peace for all of us.
