A New Kind of Normal

Fiction Story: The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across Redwood Estate as I patrolled the neighborhood, the call for a "disturbance" involving two young women ringing in my ears. At first, I thought it was nothing—just a couple of kids making noise. But when I arrived, my heart skipped. Two identical girls, standing naked in the street, explained it was their family's tradition. The law had an exception for cultural practices, and there was nothing I could do.
