“Hi Luna, how is Rowan doing?”

“Terrible, because that person Is not Rowan.”

“How do you know?”

“Everything about him is off. And I quizzed him without him knowing.”

Cam looks at me confused.

“I told him I was worried our baby girl would grow up without a father. He responded like he knew what I was talking about, but we all know I’m having triplet boys.”

They both nod and look upset.

“What do we do now Luna?”

“We keep an eye on him. For now we make a plan, we let him believe we don’t know. We stay one step ahead and look for our Rowan.”

They nod as they hear my plan and I can’t help but feel worried about if I let them down.

“I will mind linking You both with any new information. We can not meet like this again or he will know something is up once he is out of the hospital. Cam, you inform May of the plan and no one else. This stays between us.”

They agree to my plan and leave.

Part of me wonders why Brian is so quiet. I force myself to push the thought aside for now as I head back to the hospital to check on my imposter mate. I need to seem as normal as possible while I look for clues.

A few minutes later I am outside his room and knock On the door.

“Come in.”

“Hi Ro. Figured you would want some company.” I put on a fake smile but it seems to do the job.

“Hey baby, I missed you.”

He motions for a hug and I go to him. It is painful to be held by someone knowing that they are not truly your person.

He lets go and looks at my mark with cold eyes.

I look away and see he’s wearing a wedding band.

“You have a ring?”

“I got it to match yours. I hope that’s ok.”

I quickly realize we are supposed to be getting married.

“We should push the wedding date back so you can heal fully.”

I know after high ranking wolf’s marry, they shift and mark in wolf form. I will not let that happen.

“Why wait, I want to be with you.”

“Ro, I think we should wait. We are moving too fast.”

For a quick second, he looked mad, I almost missed it. He hid the emotion well and nodded.

“We can’t wait too long. It’s frowned upon to have pups without marriage.”

I nod to end the conversation and he fiddles with his ring.

“I’m going to go see the doctor to see what else needs to be done before you are released.”

He gives me a smile and I leave the room.

‘Cam, Brian, I think this has to do with his ring. My instincts tell me to take it.’

‘You need to listen to your instincts. You have a gift and the gift is telling you something.’

‘I am going to speak to the doctor. Be here in an hour, so we have a local witch?’

‘We have one in our pack.’

‘Bring her as well.’

I shut the mind link and find the doctor quickly.

“Doctor Lane, I need your assistance.”

“What can I do for you, Luna?”

“I need you to get a syringe of some type of medicine that will put Ro in a deep sleep. Say it’s for pain.”

She nods but is hesitant.

“I will explain later, I need you to trust me.”

“I trust you Luna.”

We go back to the room Ro is in and he is standing getting ready to leave.

“My love, what are you doing up?” I seriously want to vomit for saying that to this imposter.

“I am healthy as a horse, I need to get back to running the pack.”

“You can’t leave yet, without proper care you can get an infection.” Doctor Lane is on board and playing her part well.

Ro looks pissed.

He sits down on the bed.

“After this shot, I am done here.”

The Doctor nods and gives the shot.

He doesn’t even wince.

“Can we leave now?”

“Sorry Alpha, the medicine will take effect in 30 minutes and I need to make sure it is working. Then you can leave.”
