Chapter 22

Rowan

I mind link Lys to ask where we are going.

‘It’s kind of a surprise.’

Before I could answer, River stopped walking.

We are at a small clearing.

We stand in silence as we wait.

After three minutes of waiting we see River go to the center of the clearing. Her gold fur shines in the moonlight and soon glows. She lets out a howl that sounds like a beautiful forgotten melody.

Just as Bruce starts to walk towards his mate, the clearing glows. The forest that surrounds us starts to change. I feel a separation from Bruce and begin to worry. My mind starts to drift.

I fell asleep.

I woke up to see Amaryllis. I reach out to touch her face. My hand cupped her cheek. This is real.

I get up off the ground. As I stand up and adjust myself I notice a shadow swallow me.

I turn around to see River.

“How is this possible?”

“I’ll explain in a second I promise”

My mate’s words soothe me for a moment.

I don’t feel Bruce.

“Where is my wolf?” I am now starting to freak out.

Amaryllis whistles and I see Bruce come from behind his mate.

Confusion sits in.

“Where are we?”

Amaryllis starts to pet Bruce behind the ear as she looks at me.

“We are seeing my mom.” She smiles ear to ear as she answers.

“I don’t understand”

Just as she was about to answer, I heard a voice. The voice is that of a stranger, but also strongly sounds like a voice I have always known.

“Awe, my sweet flower brought me my future son-in-law!”

The woman was beautiful (not as beautiful as my mate) and she was smiling like she knew me my whole life.

“Hi Ms.” Goddess sounded lame.

The wolf’s bow at her presence and my mate gave her mom a hug.

I bowed with the dogs.

The woman giggled. Her giggle was just like my mate’s. Somehow, I now feel more comfortable.

“Rowan, I have been waiting to meet you.” She looked me up and down as if she was going to do a healthy exam.

“We all need to discuss something important.”

Her tone changed from friendly to serious rather quickly.

“We are listening”

My mate smiled As she took her mother’s hand and spoke to her with the soft voice I love so much.

“There is a great danger in your future. You need to keep your pups and yourselves safe.”

“What kind of danger? Pups? Who are you?”

I had so many questions.

“Yes dear, I will try to explain quickly. I don’t have much time. I am the moon goddess. Amaryllis is my daughter and she possesses my Mother Wolf. She has abilities to protect good souls. She is also carrying your pups. Triplet Alphas to be exact. I can’t say much about the danger. All I can say is you both need to be guarded when it comes to the king. He is an evil man. Part wolf, part wizard. He has been trying to find a way to destroy my powers. Without a moon goddess, the wolf species will cease to exist.”

Wow. Am I awake right now? No one said I needed to bring a pen and paper for notes!

“How could he Destroy you? You are a goddess?”

My mate asked a very good question while I was still wrapping my head around how this was all possible.

“He has magic. He has been looking for a way to get to me. He is going to be able to track you and hunt you down. He will use the pups and the Mother Wolf to get to me if you let your guard down.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Amaryllis will help you understand more.” She looks at my mate before continuing.

“My darling, I Don’t have a lot of time before you have to go back, but I need you to know. If you succeed in this war. You and Rowan will be king and queen of the wolves. Your triplets will all have powers as well, one will possess the power of protection, one the power of earth, the other the power of mind. Once you have lived a long life, you will become the new moon goddess, Rowan will become a god as well. You will live together, here, forever.”

My heart stops. So much just happened we are having triplets, we are being hunted, our pups will have powers, we will become gods when our time on earth ends? I am overwhelmed and already want to hunt this guy down and kill him so we do not have to worry about a war.

Just as I am about to ask more questions the moon goddess kisses my mate on the top of her head and I fall asleep yet again.
