Chapter 14

Rowan

Breakfast went by faster than I would have liked.

Amaryllis ate so fast it wouldn’t surprise me if she got sick. We started walking to the forest A few minutes ago and watching her skip while talking to her wolf was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

We get to the forest and in the blink of an eye she is already behind a tree preparing herself.

I go behind a different tree and shift quickly.

Right before I make my way over to her, I hear a loud crash.

‘What the hell was that!’ Running out from behind my tree to check on my mate Bruce stops.

A huge tree is practically knocked over with half the roots sticking out of the ground. I hear the loud crashing sound again.

Looking up I see what once was my tiny mate.

River is huge. Her paw is twice the size of Bruce’s head.

I could only stand in awe.

River was a gorgeous deep brown with gold highlights. Her eyes are bright green, reminding me of moss. I began to feel mad about Dean all over again. How can anyone think such a beautiful creature is dangerous?

River looks strong, She looks beautiful, She looks like my future, River and Amaryllis are mine.

River starts to walk ahead of me. Bruce has to jog to keep up.

Bruce runs to get in front of her and gets in a playful stance.

River copies his moves.

The strong alpha dog Bruce is acting like a pup trying to start a game of chase.

About five minutes into a completely unfair game, River wins again and they sit by a pond to relax.

River lays her head beside us and soaks in the sun. Her gold highlights shine in the sun.

She is truly magnificent. I need to research this when we get back.

I let them sit in silence.

‘Rowan’

‘Yes bruce?’

‘How am I going to mate her?’

I chuckled in the back of Bruce’s mind.

‘That ... is an excellent Question bud.’

As I finished my sentence, Bruce stiffened.

‘What’s wrong?’

‘Intruders’

Just as he said that, I heard the paws surrounding us with a thundering sound.

Both River and Bruce get in position ready to fight. I then noticed that because River is so big, she has a way stronger scent. She isn’t mated, so any unmated male within miles around could more than likely smell her.

We are surrounded by at least 25 male, horny, wolf’s. There is no way I will let them near her.

Just as they start to close in on us, River let’s out a loud, earthquaking bark. Some of the wolf’s closest to us start to back away with their tails between their legs.

Just as some were about to leave, she stood up and growled. As soon as she did, I saw the gold in her fur start to glow brighter and change shape. All the gold fur collected on her back.

Now she looked pissed.

The chase began and she destroyed them all.

One male wolf was left after a quick 5 minute brawl. She had not a scratch on her. The last male darted to the center of the forest going through a clearing. He ran to the middle and my mate decided she had enough of this stupid game. As he was still running away, she ran. The now collected gold fur on her back suddenly turned into gorgeous wings that took up the whole forest clearing. The male wolf practically pissed himself as she bared her teeth. In one flap of her wings she flew about two miles away to where he was and killed him with her powerful jaws.

My mate ... what is she?
