Chapter 7
The ride back to the small camp was a little more exciting. She never thought in a million years that she would be riding on the back of a motorcycle in the jungle at night, holding on to a very handsome man, to whom she now belonged. It was the opposite of everything she had ever been told as a girl. Man and woman meet, fall in love, get married, buy a house somewhere and raise a family. It seemed so cliche now that she thought about it. She decided right then and there that she would just stop resisting him and just be happy being his girl. He seemed like a really nice guy, after today especially, so she liked him more than ever.
Adam slowed down the bike as they rolled into the camp. Mostly everyone had gone inside their dwellings for the night. They made their way back to his little shack and went inside. They wanted to get to know each other a little better before the night’s end, so decided to stay up a while to talk.
“Do you think we can go for another ride tomorrow at sunset?”
Adam smiled, he was glad to see that she had enjoyed the ride.
“Sure we can,” he replied.
He could tell she was feeling a little happier, as she gave him a sweet smile. He was pleased, and happy that she seemed to be accepting this new lifestyle pretty well.
About an hour later they started getting ready for bed. Adam pulled off his shirt, and then pulled off his jeans leaving him in only his tight jockey shorts. He turned around to see Violet now wearing the tee shirt he had just taken off and nothing else. Their eyes met, and she blushed.
“Is it alright if I sleep in your shirt?” she asked sweetly.
He swallowed, she was so incredibly sexy, just like that in his tee shirt. He was so incredibly horny. He wanted her so badly it hurt.
“Yeah, that’s cool with me.”
They got into bed and Adam was very surprised when Violet snuggled into him, as she put her head on his bare chest. She listened to the sound of his heart beating as she laid there. His smell, the way he breathed, she was starting to like everything about him, more and more. He gently began to stroke her hair. Then he leaned his head up and kissed the top of her head.
Adam opened his eyes and laid them upon Violet’s sleeping face. She seemed so peaceful in her sleep. Not at all the usual pitiful lamb that she shows herself to be, and he hoped to bring her some measure of peace. What had she gone through? He was the one that pulled her out of that wrecked limo. What series of unfortunate events did she endure for their paths to cross at that moment?
Adam blinked and realized he had fallen back asleep for a few minutes. He picked his head up and looked down the bed to a figure standing in the doorway. He froze in place, but his fears were quelled when he heard the whispered voice.
“Adam. Adam, you awake?”
Adam looked back to Violet, seeing she was still asleep. He sighed and moved the covers out from behind him, sliding off the mattress to not disturb the young girl. He walked past the shadow in his doorway and towards his kitchen, “What is it, Jenkins?”
“Word came in from Cirilo. The Baron is planning something against us. They’re coming for the girl.”
Adam whirled around to look at Jenkins. He couldn’t quite make out any details of the man, but he knew the frame and voice to be of his friend. He was stunned to silence and through the course of denial, he had to make sure, “ ... He’s sure?”
“Yeah, I know it sucks, buddy, but we’ll have to move camp. Now.”
Adam sighed and nodded, “All right. I’ll tell Violet.”
Jenkins moved a little closer, quiet for a moment, “So ... uh, not to ... you know, like, call...” He gestured a so-and-so movement with his hands, “ ... Bullshit, or nothing. But ... did you really beat Phoenix? ‘cus we’ve been talking. He seemed to walk out of The Torches a lot better than y-.”
