Writing prompt: What do you mean humans JUMPSTARTED a literal STAR?

H: Well it wasn’t really something we wanted to do on purpose. We sort of did it by accident.

A: By accident? How the Prathix do you jumpstart a star by accident?

H: Well we were investigating a nebula out beyond sector 38 and we noticed that there was a couple of rogue gas giants heading towards it. Well they were frozen gas giants but close enough.

A: Yeah. We have seen plenty of those types of things between stars. What of it?

H: Well a couple of idiots in the research fleet decided to have some fun by playing pool. So they used a couple ships and their gravity pressors and warp portals to ‘shoot’ the rogue planets into the nebula to try and hit other planets that were already inside and they did it just a little too well and things happened.

A: What do you mean things?

H: Well the rogue planets were aimed nicely and hit and destabilised a couple of other planets in the nebula which then destabilised others in a cascade and they started falling into a death spiral around a proto-star that was in the center and their impacts were such that the proto-star gained mass, fuel and was ignited and we had front row seats to see the nebula turned into the beginning of a solar system when the star ignited.

H: Yeah so the system should stabilise within about 3-4 billion years and a fairly large planetary system should form out of the remains of the nebula as it is collected into the debris disk around the star. Obviously we won’t be able to see it but it’s fascinating.

A: Warp portals? Pressors? What the hell are you humans doing playing games in our universe?
