Cursed to Be a Frog
Writing prompt: You have been hexed into a poisonous frog who has to receive a kiss in order to return back to your original state. Thing is you’re a “poisonous” frog, So this task is nearly impossible.
As she falls to the ground, you sigh and castigate yourself for trying to break the curse.
It’s been 7 and a half years so far and you just don’t know how much more of it you can take. Having to live in a pond in the castle’s garden, looking at all the people who walk past, talking and laughing and you are waiting for the very rare person who can actually understand you.
You keep calling out whenever someone walks past and now and then a woman or girl will hear your voice and come closer. You keep asking them to give you a kiss to break the curse and each time they try, they collapse. Some of them have died and each time it happens you wonder why the witch cursed you with her curse.
You hadn’t even done anything to her. She was just walking past you as you were sitting near the pond and Zap, you were a frog. The first couple months were so confusing as you learned how to live as a frog and what to watch for and avoid. Luckily the curse made any animal that attacked you get sick or die.
Unfortunately this also happened to the humans who picked you up and try to kiss you.
At first you thought you needed loves true kiss to break the curse but that didn’t make any sense. The witch had simply said that you would remain a frog until you were kissed. So now each time you see someone you call out ‘Please, a witch has cursed me. I need someone to kiss me to break the curse that made me a frog. Can you please help me?’
It’s getting harder and harder to keep holding out hope that someone will be able to break this curse as every day goes past. And it gets harder and harder to remember you are a human and not really a frog. The mating season for the other frogs in the pond makes this difficult but none of their calls really sound right to you so maybe you can still keep in contact to the human part of you. But it’s so hard to keep going.
