Chapter 7: Telling My Parents

That night lying naked in bed unable to sleep I relived the experience over and over in my mind. He looked at me and said just one word, “Steve?” I nodded and he smiled. “Well, sounds like you had a good time. I’m really happy for you baby! Maybe later you can tell me about it but I have a feeling your mom will want to hear about it as well.”

I nodded vigorously and he held up one finger to tell me to just hang on for a second. He went downstairs to fetch my mom. She soon came up to my room to join us and I was practically giddy with excitement.

“Your dad said to hurry up here but you’re not even dressed!” my mom laughed, “Goodness sakes Kelly, what’s gotten into you?”

I burst into laughing when she said that. It was the perfect question to respond to whether she realized it or not!

“Steve did,” I answered simply.

“What do you mean?” my mom replied. Then it hit her and she reached forward to hug me.

“Oh Kelly baby! That’s wonderful! I’m so proud of you.”

She turned to my dad and smiled. “Our little girl is all grown up now.” Then she sat down next to me and put her arm around me.
