Chapter 6
I didn’t go to the afterparty.
Well ... I didn’t stay. Attendance is required. There are folks that one MUST meet. So I met, signed tee shirts, posters, asses and boobs, arranged a Sunday preconcert radio show with the local rock DJ and glad-handed a ton of folks with backstage passes.
Did my version of Elvis and his, “Thank you very much,” grabbed Red and K&E and headed back to the motel.
Fun and games. I pretty much got no sleep; In the morning ... the Way to early morning I sat them down and said,
“I have to do this again today. Do you want to stay? Or go home.”
“Stay? As in ... go to the concert again?” Kathy asked.
“Yeah,” I said.
Ernie asked, “Same seats?”
“Ayup.”
“You bet!” Like twins.
Red asked for a phone.
I handed her mine. She punched numbers and pushed send. There was a pause.
“Good morning, Mom. Daddy ... please.”
“...”
“Mom ... I know you don’t recognize this number ... I’ve never used this phone before ... lemme talk to daddy.”
“...”
