Chapter 30: Element

My breath stolen by your madness
Everything I have to give
Is simply shuddering
And ebbing among the waves
In name and in graves
But not in suffering
Choosing to live
Through the more than infinite sadness
A winter of waves
For the one who saves
Anyone she can
Spoof of a surfer
With no rapids to ride
My head throbs in time
With my fallen pride
And misspoken rhyme
Inclined to neither nature nor nurture
An also ran
In less than common sanity
Incapable of the slightest vanity
She stands surrounded in sand
I feel more than I planned
When pulled from my isolation
My iron island of defense
With no need to recompense
Time spent in her nation
Under her banner hung high
Well meaning and well worn
From foaming sea born
Walking on water so sly
And secure with sand colored brilliance
By passing my every defense
My breath stolen by your madness
Drowning in mind and reality
Everything I have to give
Is simply shuddering
A wedding among the waves
Is name and in graves
But not in suffering
Choosing to live
Often in spite of me
And my more than infinite sadness
