She led Kaylee through the garden, across the alley and into the garage. Being inside that awful place again brought back terrifying memories, especially when she saw that José and his two accomplices were there. Carmen said something to José and they followed him to a new-looking Mercedes Benz sedan. The windows were tinted very dark.

José opened a rear door for them.

Inside the car, Kaylee found that Señor Vásquez was waiting there. He patted the seat next to him, and took hold of her leash. Any hope of escape was dashed as she tied the blindfold around Kaylee’s head. The car began to move.

“Relax, little one,” said Carmen. “The drive will take about one hour. Maybe we can have some fun on the way.”
