Chapter 3
Ron was giving his SUV a quick wash on his driveway when Stan his next-door neighbor walked up and asked how things were going. Ron told Stan things were fine as Liz had come down and she would be here for two weeks. He said Liz was going to drop him off at the golf course and then go shopping. Stan said his wife was going shopping and maybe Liz would want to go to the University Mall with his wife.
The hurricane season wasn’t due to start for a few more months. Ron was the type of person who wanted to be prepared for all contingencies. His house was constructed on high ground and was located far enough from the bay that a storm surge was not a concern. The construction of the house with it having roll-down shutters and wind-resistant windows would for the most part rule out wind damage. Previous reports of storm damage indicated that a severe storm could knock out the electricity for a while. Because of that unease, Ron asked Stan if he knew of anyone who installed battery-start electric generators. Ron said he wanted one installed in his garage that was muffled and vented to the outside. Stan said he did know someone and said he would give Ron the phone number for Keith Badger who did that type of work and was reasonable in what he charged.
Ron’s current plans didn’t call for him to be here when it was hurricane season, but maybe his kids and their families would be here then. Liz’s brother and his family were another possibility of people vacationing here. It could be that Ron too would be here in the future when it was hurricane season which was why he wanted the backup generator. At the same time, he hoped there would never be a need to use this generator.
At the golf course, Ron had a good round of golf and afterward a few glasses of beer with his fellow golfers at the club. Back home he took a shower and waited for Liz who still was out shopping.
Liz when she came back home she commented on how big and nice the University Mall was. She said there were a large number of stores in the mall as well as in the immediate area surrounding it. She planned to go back there to do more shopping.
In the late afternoon, Liz was at the stove starting to prepare dinner. Ron came up behind her and put his arms around her waist and kissed her on her neck. Since she didn’t object to him doing that, he continued kissing her neck and nibbling on it. One of his hands drifted down lower and started rubbing her special place. She still didn’t say anything and he was surprised that she just stood there letting Ron do what he was doing.
This was getting interesting he thought. With his other hand, he was able to release the tab on her slacks and pull down the zipper enabling him to slip a hand into the front waistband of her slacks and into her panties. Moving down to her special place, his finger told him she had become moist. He used his finger to caress her clit.
“What in the hell has gotten into you? You are acting like you did when we were on our honeymoon.”
“The question you should be asking is what is going to be getting into you.”
Liz turned the burner off and removed his hand from her pants. In turning around she said, “Oh, I know what that is going to be,” and she kissed him. One of her hands dropped lower and in squeezing his package she could tell he was aroused. No words needed to be said as she took his hand and led him to the bedroom.
It was an enjoyable and satisfying late afternoon of lovemaking followed by a late dinner. Liz remarked that Ron was acting like he was a dirty old man. He could tell by how she said that, that she didn’t mind him acting that way. Her saying that and taking him to the bedroom just confirmed to Ron the love she had for him.
The drive to Ed’s home even with not much traffic on the road was still a little more than two hours. They were greeted by Ed and his wife Karla. After being introduced to the other people that were there, Ron talked with Ed. He complimented Ed on his home which was next to a large lake.
Seeing the small sailboat on the shore Ron said, “I can see you are still into sailing but do you still do scuba diving?”
“Yes and no,” said Ed. “If we go somewhere on vacation I will do some scuba diving but not here. The reason I don’t do it here is that I may meet some unfriendly creatures who are swimming and looking for a meal. You can see that I and my neighbors have fences around our backyards. Most of us don’t have pets but we do have grandchildren. The fences are here not to keep something in but rather are here to keep some of those large creatures out. Last year they took a ten-footer out from this lake.”
There was more talk about retirement and how things were going back north. Ron told Ed what the arrangements were that he had made for the dental office when he was in Florida.
Overall, it was a good time for Ron and Liz to see Ed and his wife again. Liz said she was going to be going back north in another week but when she came back she invited Ed and his wife to come for a visit and stay a few nights. They could visit some of the sites that were located around Sarasota and the West Coast. Ed said they would enjoy doing that as they hadn’t spent any time visiting the West Coast.
On the drive back to their home, Liz echoed Ron’s comments about having a good time and seeing Ed and his wife again. She said she was starting to enjoy being in Florida. Ron knew he was enjoying her being here as she was an excellent lover and companion. Besides having a warm and caring personality, she still had her good looks and slim figure which was another plus.
Liz surprised Ron one day when she came back from doing some shopping. She had gone with Marge to a flea market where she purchased some vegetables including fresh mushrooms. Ron thought Liz made an excellent mushroom soup. Among the other items she purchased was a golf club putter that she surprised Ron with when she gave it to him. She said she purchased this putter because he complained about how bad his putting was.
Ron’s first impression was that he liked the putter. It was made by a major golf club manufacturer. There were minor signs of use on the putter head. This putter had what looked like a brand new thick golf grip that Ron saw other golfers having on their putters. Liz continued to surprise him when he asked her what this putter cost and she said ten dollars. He knew the cost of the grip alone was close to that amount. Liz said she purchased it from a man selling golf equipment at the flea market who said he was getting out of the golfing business. Ron already had golfing plans for tomorrow and he couldn’t wait to try out this putter.
Ron said he would express his thanks to Liz for this purchase later tonight in bed. When he told her he would do that she said, “That is a given and you better take a pill. You have set a standard of twice in one night.”
It turned out that with Liz’s oral help, he was able to maintain that standard.
The following day at the golf course was the day of the week members could invite non-members here to golf. Ron was on the putting green getting the feel for this new putter when Rich Daniels, a member Ron had previously golfed with asked Ron if he was paired up with someone to golf. Ron said that he wasn’t yet which had Rich asked him to join his threesome group.
Ron was introduced to Rich’s wife Mia, and to Cliff Sanderson, her brother who was visiting. Ron was told that Cliff was an attorney and a Florida State Senator. Cliff would be riding with Ron in the golf cart.
