Hive mind consumes human flesh

Writing prompt: Hivemind consumes Human Flesh, reforms it’s armies after the Human’s “Oshi” leading to a huge scientific squabble on just how rooted in Humanity’s flesh is their idol-worshipping nature. (Sauce is Matara Kan and the other sauce is Tyranids from Warhammer 40k)

The Hive Mind was confused. Just this fact is what made things worse because being confused was something the hive mind had never had to deal with before. It always knew what it needed to do, to expand and consume and continue the hive mind.

The new source of biomass seemed to be the cause of the confusion. It was ‘spicy’ and that added t the confusion because the hive mind didn’t even know what ‘spicy’ meant.

When the outer edges of the swarm encountered the first outposts of the new biomass, it was a new experience because the biomass fought back viscously and inflicted hurt to the swarm. But all the hive mind had to do was send in more swarm and larger bioforms to deal with the metallic parts of the biomass.

Eventually the biomass was consumed and the damage to the swarm and hive mind was healed with the new DNA information from the biomass.

And that is where the confusion started to appear. The DNA wanted to force the hive mind to create new bioforms. These bioforms had to have new forms and ‘looks’.

The hive mind didn’t even know what ‘looks’ was. The confusion was growing as the new biomass was consumed from new sources.

Hive nodes were created to lead the biomass consumption from the new sources and they had to be formed and grown as the new DNA told the hive mind.

The hive mind had never in it’s long history, known DNA to force it to be grown into forms and shapes of it’s own choice. The hive mind was confused over being required to make the new bioforms.

They were effective in leading the swarm to consume the new biomass but the more it consumed the biomass, the more the biomass pressured the hive mind into new ways of thinking.

Anti-bodies were created to look for infections in the swarm. No infections were found. Mutations were looked for and any found were destroyed and their biomass discarded. But the ideas of the new biomass remained.

The hive mind found itself creating the new bioforms into simulations of the new biomass members. Parts of the swarm were now showing individual looks. They were forming their armor into shapes and colors that were ‘cool’ and ‘wonderful’. Some bioforms were ‘sexy’.

The hive mind was confused. But the new biomass was tasty and numerous.

The hive mind would continue to feed on the new biomass, even if there were changes in the hive mind and swarm.
