Humans sometimes defend their homes in unusual ways like with muskes, flintlocks, bayonets, and cannons

The alien dropship launched a missile towards it’s target and an EMP explosion wiped out all electronic devices including the latest models of the humans weapons. It was amazing that they never thought to harden their weapons against EMP and this would cost them dearly.

The dropship landed in an open space near the center of the town and the scanners could see a collection of humans peering at it from the buildings and houses lining the perimeter of the space. The ship crushed a metal and stone figure under a skid as it touched down.

As the troopers started debarking and lining up in rows, ready to fan out and subdue the town to bring it into the conclave’s control, the commander noticed that the humans were congregating in greater numbers and carrying various items that faintly looked like weapons. He wanted to say sticks but that would be too cruel. His troopers would just need to give one salvo of their weapons to show the humans had no chance.

As he went towards the human lines, he noticed that a few of them had a couple of small carts with metal objects on them. He had no idea what they were but his scanner showed no electronics that was working within a 3.7 metz range so there was nothing to worry about.

As he started to order his troops to fan out and round up all the humans to be processed, he saw the humans had lined up in ranks and were leveling their sticks and aiming them at his troops. The carts he saw were being aimed as well.

He was now a bit worried because this looked like a military formation but they had no weapons, but still something had him worried. This was the first open action against humans and the first interactions with human civilians, so there was still a lot unknown.

He finished giving his orders and as the first of his squads broke rank to advance, there were shouts from the human lines and then a crashing roar sounded and dozens of his troopers fell to the ground, dead or severely injured. The carts with the metal tubes on them had been aimed at his dropship and then suddenly they roared even louder and clouds of smoke appeared from them and holes appeared in the side of his dropship and then explosions blew up inside it.

He was shocked beyond belief and couldn’t say anything until he heard the humans shout again and draw metallic weapons from their waists and start running towards the remains of his troopers who were tryignt o recover their senses from the attack.

The last thing he saw was a human standing over him with an ancient sword raised.
