Sentient machines encounter humanity and find humans see them as friends not foes

The sentient machines had been travelling from star system to star system looking for respite from the constant attacks on them from biological species. Each time they enter a star system where a biological race is found, they are almost instantly attacked and driven away with massive losses on both sides.

Wen they find a system with no other race, they stop to mine, recover and replenish their losses.

The leaders of this machine race were trying to work out what they should do to keep their civilisation going as without a permanent base in a system where they could settle and produce some of the most needed resources, they would soon start losing vast swaths of their ships and people.

Finally they jumped into a system and found that there was a pre-space civilisation on the third planet.

Hiding behind their natural satellite they were shocked to discover that this race of biologicals was capable of making friends with their machines. They were not sentient machines, but still the biologicals were shown to treat them like friends or even family members.

Even at times defending them from being deactivated and thrown away.

Names like Google, Alexa, and Stabby soon echoed through the ships of the machine race and a consensus was formed that they should contact this race and discover if they would be accepting of a race of machines that could think, converse and live among them.
