Chapter 20
“You made a mistake, ass!” The first said as he made several motions, then the look of anger turned to shock then panic.
“I hope that you can live with this. I did for most of my life, enjoy as you will never again terrorize the people here,” I said as my Jinns and I turned our backs on them.
“NO! You lie, no one gets power like that as quickly as you say. It takes a lifetime,” the man was yelling as we faded.
The strongest had reported to the Pharaoh, then disposed of the two without power. No sense in panicking the others.
He then appeared where another four were being watched by several of his men. The one that was the strongest bowed before the leader to give his report.
“What did you see?” the strongest asked.
“Sir,” the man said, trembling in fear. “It was the cursed one of the mage and Jinn power.” The strongest nodded his head, then destroyed the four.
With a sigh, he nodded to the others to return. He had to report to the Pharaoh, this was now serious now that they had lost seven.
An hour later the leader of the Pharoah’s mage guards walked into the Pharoah’s chamber. The Pharoah looked up from reading a report.
“Ah, if you are here then,” the Pharoah stopped, seeing the look on the mage guard leader’s face. “Why do I think that I am about to be angry and worried?” Letting out a sigh, the Pharoah nodded as the guard leader started.
“Are there any orders sire?” The mage asked.
The Pharoah was stunned for a few moments as he considered. “The simple fact that we lost seven, including the one that was almost as powerful as you are more than problematic. Suggestions, as it is obvious that this one is powerful enough to take more than two.”
“Sire,” the mage guard started, “I believe that we can take it,” he started when the Pharoah held up a hand.
“He took out four of you, including the second strongest. I’m not in the mood nor have the time to replace you if you are wrong. Perhaps negotiation would work, it worked with the Syrian contingent,” the Pharoah said.
The mage guard had a shocked look on his face, “Sire?”
“I already have to replace seven of you, this has almost halved the mage corp. No, try to see if he will talk, as soon as you find him again,” the Pharoah said.
The mage leader was seething inside as soon as the Pharoah said this, then took a deep breath. “I will personally attend to this sire.”
The mage leader was about to leave when the next words chilled him to his soul. “I don’t want this man to be killed by you or your troops. I want him able to explain, or I’ll recall the binding contract that I have with all the mage corps.”
The mage leader gulped quickly, then nodded as he vanished. Appearing near the border of the city, he blasted a few holes in the city wall.
“Sir?” His new second in command said as he and the rest backed away.
“That ignoramus fool! Doesn’t he realize what this powerful abomination could do?” The mage leader asked.
“Sir?” The second in command asked again.
“The Pharoah wants to talk to this, this thing!” The mage leader whirled, staring at his troops. “Do you know what he is?”
His second in command started, “We only felt that he was half Jinn and human. We,” he was then interrupted.
“You are a simple dolt not able to read him. He is an abomination, half Jinn and mage!” the leader shouted all his troops gasping at the news.
“We have been ordered to find him and not kill him. I am afraid that he might be after the Pharoah. We will be on guard and kill him if he breathes wrong!” the mage leader ordered.
All the mages that were his troops growled at that. “Why are we not killing him on sight?” one said.
The mage leader looked at the speaker and snarled, “Because the Pharoah has a binding contract on us. Do you wish to find out what will happen if you break it?”
The speaker was about to say more when he was blasted across the square, to the shouts of the others.
The leader turned to the rest of them, “Not another word! The cost of betrayal is far higher than you realize. Do not waver from the plan or your duties.”
“The war is secondary?” Another one of the mages said in an aghast voice.
The leader took a deep calming breath as he let the killing strike in his hand, go. In a terse voice, almost a whisper, the leader said, “For now, yes! Now find the man and any with him, do not try to take them, as they are too strong.”
Again there was a gasp from all there as they all vanished.
The leader shook his head, this new generation of mages, seemed to have no respect for the old ways. The problem was, that this new threat was in fact the strongest even he had gone against.
Far outside of the city, Catherine, Cythina and I appeared in an abandoned hut. I felt around seeing if we had been detected. Then for a moment I wondered how I could do this.
I nodded my head at both my Jinns as they were staring at me with their mouths hanging open. Then they both fell to their knees.
“Master! We did not know that you possessed Jinn power. You feel nothing like a Jinn, how?” Catherine asked, a look of praise on her and Cyhthina’s faces.
I tried as hard as I could to get both of them on their feet, but they refused. I sighed as I also sank to my knees, lifting both their heads.
“I am not a deity, nor am I to be bowed down to,” I said. They both shook as they could barely look at me.
“Master, the amount of power you used was so strong, far stronger than I have ever felt,” a still shaking Cathertine said. “It felt far beyond that of a mere Jinn.”
I could only stare at both of them, what they were saying went beyond what little I knew. I finally managed to get them off the floor as I sat to try and solve all this.
It was a moment later that I felt a dull throb as the power within me seemed to drop. I made food and drink appear, noticing that it took a good deal of time to appear.
I nodded my head as the thoughts I had before seemed to be appearing to be true. All three of us rested and ate as I also decided to plan.
Within the huge room that she was in, Catherine could feel the power she had weakening. She had a bit left though she wasn’t sure she had enough to reach her brother.
A large smile crossed her features as she thought of him. The headaches were mercifully gone at least, though she could tell her brother still had some.
She had heard the Pharoah talking about a worry he had with the mages. Something about they had lost seven? One being the second strongest? She smiled, that had to be her brother, uh ... John!
She shook her head as many of her memories were still like a piece of Swiss cheese, full of holes. John, she thought she had to repeat that as much as she could.
A sigh escaped her lips as she moved toward the doorway. She was immediately met by a huge brutish male. Though he didn’t try to stop her, he stayed extremely close to her as she walked from the room.
The only time he tried to stop her was when she tried to leave the building. It was a decision he thought he was well ready for, he wasn’t.
The fact that she took him out with a type of fighting he didn’t know didn’t aid him much later. Catherine let out a sigh of relief as she made her way away from the building she’d been in.
She made her way across the city with a feeling that she was drawing closer to her brother. She hated using what little power she had left, but she had to find him.
Almost to the end of the city, she heard a loud piercing whine of an alarm. Moving as fast as she could, she felt John drawing even closer.
I had stood, a strange feeling coming over me as if something was approaching me. A few minutes later a female voice came from outside the hut, “John?”
I almost ripped the door off the doorway as I stared at my sister Catherine. I grabbed her in a huge hug, afraid to let go of her, neither of noticing the blue glow that enveloped us.
The weakening within me was starting to grow far less, far faster than before. I gave Catherine a kiss, hugging her tighter.
I pulled her within the hut as tears of joy fell from her eyes. “I was so afraid I wouldn’t see you again,” she said.
For another minute, I held her, then, of course, the bad guys popped up. “Abomination, make it easy, step out, and we’ll end you quickly.”
I growled as Catherine held my hand tighter. My other hand built up a charge and shot through the wall. I knew from the screams that I got more than two of them.
A moment later, I felt another five flash in. I managed to peak out seeing three on the ground not moving.
“Hey, you evil piece of shit, how ‘bout I finish all of you off? You all seem to be rather weak, it shouldn’t take too long,” I shouted.
There was a long moment of cursing, then they let loose on the hut. The cursing seemed to grow louder as nothing was happening to the hut.
A moment after that, another really bad situation appeared. “So human, you are trading trouble again,” came the voice of Elvantor Hajib.
As I expected, the mages that were left started to yell as energy blasts started to hit away from us. I saw movement as Hajib started to advance on us.
“Such a weak human fighting almost as weak mages,” Hajib stated, then screamed as he was hit by a powerful blast. “I will kill you slowly, you mage filth.”
“Heard that before you Jinn trash, even if your power is closer to my heart,” the leader said.
There was a moment of silence as the two stared at each other. It was then that nine other mage blasts hit where Hajib was.
I used that moment to try and escape running into a solid wall. I then heard evil laughing outside the hut. “You really think I’d allow you to escape?” came Hajib’s voice.
